Billboard has an article: "Top Artists To Rock Swing States"
http://www.billboard.com/bb/daily/artic ... 1000592073

An announcement is expected tomorrow (Aug. 4) with details of the upcoming Vote for Change tour, presented by MoveOn.Org's political action committee MoveOn PAC and America Coming Together (ACT), an organization advocating change in government.

Jimmy Buffett is mentioned as one of the acts that will be performing.

It seemed like there was a rumor a couple of months ago about buffett and springstien playing in FL. together for a show. (I Think it was shortly after the Texas show was announced) It just goes to show that Parrottheads aren't to far off the mark from time to time.

so, it looks like Jimmy will be in Miami on October 10th. :D

I wonder if the shows will be free shows or fundraisers. If they're fundraisers, I wonder if they'll run into the same issues they did when Jimmy was going to do fundraising for Sen. Graham, but it would have required concert goers to fill out political donation paperwork, so the shows were scrapped (I think I have that right.....).

and I wonder if it will be just Jimmy, or the CRB as well. I wonder if any of the Coral Reefers are Bush supporters.....

just things I wonder about.... :D

Jimmy has performed at the West Palm Airport for Gore and Clinton and it was free. He also does the private gigs too but it will be at least 500$ - $1,000 per ticket

If he follows his pattern .. he will fly in a day or two before the election and usually its around 1pm - 3pm.

I am in CA now so I will not make it - but if you are in FL - keep in touch with the local dem office since they have to be aware of all events and they need as many people as possible to go support

Its just too bad Jimmys not the one running - Peace on Earth and Margarita's for everyone!!!!

I think the shows were scrapped when Senator Graham ended his campaign for President

but I think he ended his campaign because he ran out of money, in part because the shows that were scrapped were going to raise the money he needed...

which came first, the chicken or the egg? :P

Jimmy came to Jacksonville for Bill Nelson's campaign in 2000 and played a couple of songs but I could not get the day off.
After seeing it on the local news it looked like anybody could just walk up and meet him.
Next time I'm there

Well, I kind of like that Jimmy is performing but I think it's pathetic John Kerry has to resort to the entertainment industry to promote himself. I mean come on if he has to promote himself through successful entertainers and not his successful-self, then he shouldn't be our next president of the United States...and that's not the only reason.

Kerry is scary! :x

BUSH '04! :D

I don't think Kerry is resorting to promote himself by this, I think its that the artists want to get rid of bush, and they are supporting Kerry. Thats why its called moveon.org, not johnkerry.org . . . or thats why its called the "vote for change tour" not the "vote for kerry tour"

Also, to all you others out there, there was no mention of Buffett today on the site!!!!!!!! OH NO!!!!!!!! :-?  :o

I would like to know how Kerry has resorted to the entertainment business to promote himself? From what I see and what DsilCaribe
has written this is put on by a different organization, not John Kerry or any of his campaign officials.
I personally think the Vote for Change Tour is a fantastic idea. I hope this brings more American citizens to the voting booth on election day and at the same time to support who they believe will be a great leader for the United States.
