Tomm, you need to hook up with Frank and go deer hunting in PA. My friends Jack was born and raised in Stroudsburg, PA, and got a deer every year since he was old enough to carry his own gun. Then he moved to NH and got shut out two years straight. Now every year he goes back home to visit his family and get his deer. He says that if you don't get one the first day you didn't walk far enough off the road.rednekkPH wrote:That too - but then again, there's no such thing as a bad day in the woods.tommcat327 wrote:OR TO HELP FORGET THE HORRIBLE LUCK YOU HAD THAT DAYrednekkPH wrote:Like Tom said, the beer is for butchering time after the hunting is done. I live within an hour of Stroudsburg. The hunting is actually even better a bit north where I'm at. Big buck may be few and far between, but there's no problem keeping the freezer full.SuperTrooper wrote:Tomm, you need to hook up with Frank and go deer hunting in PA. <~~~ sticking my tounge out at Tomm, and not in the good way either. No, I was not born in '72, but does that mean that I can't be proud that my team has accomplished what no other team has? I didn't start the comparison of the two teams. Anyway, wasn't this a hunting thread???
Eat seafood? Use bait? Thank a commercial fisherman.

I have hunted all my life and a fair shot and still wonder how pholks think a 300 yard shot is "easy" I've missed deer that stepped or bent down to eat a few times and sometimes they are moving so that easy shot is a myth. ....Most times I will try and get closer (much) But I do not claim toaquaholic wrote:Hunting is very important for conservation, heard control,etc.............but shooting something from 3oo yards with a 30-06, or whatever does not seem like much of a sport for the object in the crosshairs.........not being critical...jus my take
be a sport I just like venison,antelope,ETC.
PS the last deer I took was a nice fat doe taken with a iron sight
pistol at about 50 yards.

I keep forgetting that in other parts of the states, you can kill doe. I don't know if its a state law or local ordinance, but my buddies who hunt deer talk about the minimum point for kill. The could explain why the doe down here will walk right up to people.ragtopW wrote:PS the last deer I took was a nice fat doe

It's a management issue. If you just kill the bucks than what happens???land_shark3 wrote:I keep forgetting that in other parts of the states, you can kill doe. Very true; in Georgia we don't have to worry about the crops that much. That's what our midwestern brethren are for.ragtopW wrote:besides there are some places in Idaho where at the right time of the year there are hundreds of deer on the alfalfa fields gotta thin out a few.

Both are true in PA. We can shoot doe or buck, however there are antler restrictions on the buck. Currently, a legal buck must have at least one antler with 3 distinct points.land_shark3 wrote:I keep forgetting that in other parts of the states, you can kill doe. FRANK,PM ME SOME INFO ON NON RESIDENT HUNTING.I DONT REALLY CARE WHAT IT COSTS IF THE HUNTING IS GOOD AND I'M WITH GOOD PEOPLE.rednekkPH wrote:Just let me know - Between friends and soon-to-be inlaws, I have access to well over 100 acres of private land that is great for deer hunting. Hmm...if we put antlers on Monkey Boy and put him out there, think we could pass him off for a deer?rednekkPH wrote: Both are true in PA. We can shoot doe or buck, however there are antler restrictions on the buck. Currently, a legal buck must have at least one antler with 3 distinct points.
