The keets are listening!

Post by Pacinthecage »

I just had to tell all of you that our family is watching a show on the Travel Channel about Florida. I said to my 10 year old "Did you know that Key West is closer to Cuba than to Miami?" And he answered back with "It is more than 90 miles to Miami?"!!! I thought that was great. So, the keets are listening!! And another Jimmy Buffett geography lesson has been learned. All is well. Have a great night y'all!

Everyone thinks i push them into it but my 6 and 3 year olds think Jimmy's "Mini Matinee" is the greatest thing ever. They know many Buffett songs...My son demands to go to Key west and a Jimmy show. YES WE ARE RAISING GOOD PARAKEETS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm proud to say we are doing our part as well. My two younger keets ( 6 and 8 ) are starting to show their feathers. My 8 year old son asked for his own Buffett cd for his b-day so we bought him Meet Me in Margaritaville. Now he wants a live cd and our plan is to take all 3 sons to see JB in 2005. My wife has the neighbor's kids singing along too. Mentoring a developing future keet is the least we can do! :pirate:

My daughter is 19 now, and a full parrothead herself..She was laughing the other day about "Jolly Mon"...She loved to sing that when she was little as she could say the word "Hell" and not get scolded by anyone!

Said she still loves it for the memories of that alone...Funny kid..

My daughter is 2 and 1/2 now. One of her first 10 words was Bubba (seriously). I thought that would be easier for her to say than Buffett. She and I were home alone a few days before the Alpine Valley show last year and I popped on Tales from Margaritavision. She liked the crowd scenes in Changes and I taught her that we were watching "Bubba."

By the end of the summer we were listening and dancing to the Radio Margaritaville broadcasts and she would sing the line "I Don't Know" and put her Fins up.

A year later Cheeseburger in Paradise is her second favorite place to eat, after McDonald's with their Happy Meals of course. She always wears her hulu skirt and lei.

Volcano is her 2nd favorite Buffett song, but once I showed her the video for Carribean Amphibian, she was hooked on that song. She'll watch it over and over (5 times+).

We're not ready to bring her to a concert yet, but we did have a party the night of the Alpine Valley show and played the concert outside. She still talks about 'her' Bubba party.

I've been working on my two for years. Not necessarily intentionally, but I play Jimmy in the car all of the time, so they get to hear him A LOT!

My six-year-old loves to listen to JB. It reminds him of going to Florida. His favorites are Brown Eyed Girl and Bob Robert's Society Band.. He walks around singing the line "Fox Trot, Bunny Hop Do the Jitterbug". He also knows what "Phins Up!" means.

And my 12-year-old went to Cincinnati with me last year. Gotta raise 'em right. :D :pirate:

My 6 year old claims he is a parrothead and NOT a parakeet. His favorite songs are Come Monday and In the City. I never play ....Get Drunk and Screw around the kids but the other day I heard my four year old singing it. So I guess they are listening even when we don't think they are!

Listening to JB in the car has become a religion for me and my keets (11 & 8). They've become hugh fans! Ended up taking them to Margaritaville twice while in Orlando in July.

My 3 grommets love Jimmy. In fact they beg for Jimmy Buffett music in the car and to have Bubba playing in the background when they are on the computer. Ther favorite meal is a "Cheeseburger in Paradise" which is what they all ask for at the local McDonalds and various other hamburger joints. They really enjoy the Margaritaville cafes and always want to know why Jimmy isn't playing on that given night. My 9 year old Son of a Son of a Sailor is always walking around with a Discman and when I check to see what's playin... Jimmy! He is demanding to go to the Cicinnati show this year. My six year old girl loves Volcano, Fins, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Fruitcakes, Jolly Mon, Caribbean Amphibian with Kernit The Frog and is always wearing a Margaritaville T-shirt. My five year old girl is always singing lines from various Buffett songs. I LOVE IT! I didn't know about Jimmy until I was in high school (24 years ago), so it's great that these guys are getting a head start. I'm glad to see that my Keets aren't the only kids growing up to be the people our parents warned us about.

I am a bit obsessed--the other day I was singing a nonbuffett song and my kids were confused. I only have a tape player in my car and my Fruitcakes tape broke and my six year old was mad! My kids pretty much only know Buffett--Brittney who???????
