I don't honestly believe that there are more than a handful of people who choose their position based solely on what an entertainer says. In most cases celebrity endorsement usually erupts into a negative firestorm from opposing viewpoints. Entertainers should only go there understanding that they have little to gain and much to lose. They risk even further bringing it into their performance.LIPH wrote:Or maybe he doesn't want people voting for a particular candidate, like lemmings, just because some newspaper headline says "Tom Cruise Endorses John (or Jane) Doe". You know there are people out there who would vote for anyone their favorite celebrity is backing.Key Lime Lee wrote:Perhaps Tom just doesn't want to endorse either candidate for fear it might affect movie sales.
Performers just wind up taking themselves too seriously, and they think that their opinion is so important that we all need to be made aware of what it is.

Hollywood is a big part of political races in all reality because celebritys can draw people in to fundraisers, I think there was a show on television about it. But it seems to me that when celebritys proudly say that they dont suport Bush , there is a backlash from the media. I really dont care who celebritys support, I will still go to there concerts and watch there movies, buy there CD's , Etc...

Some might argue it's not performers, but all people. I mean are we not all yelling "hey look at me" by posting?SuperTrooper wrote:

People like to express their opinions, even celebrities. The difference is that when celebrities speak, for some reason the media feels the need to cover it.
In the meantime, I'll continue to compensate for my lack of life by seeking some form of fame here by posting a lot... at least that's what I'm told my motivations are.
