I once enjoyed this site so much. Sure there was times when negativity reared it's ugly head, but I wrote that off to the "pre-tour, is he going to play here, jitters" or "I'm not that crazy about the new album" gripe, which is fine. But, my gawd, now it seems that all the "new" posts are nothing but rehashes of complaints that can be found on page 2 or 3 of the JB Discussion list if anyone cared to do a search (this morning there were 3 different threads about the price of Vegas tickets on page 1!)

I once enjoyed reading the differing opinions but now that it's getting close to election time everybody is getting political. If I wanted to read/see political BS I would watch TV. Any channel will show you ads telling what the OTHER candidate isn't about or how bad they are. If any of them would tell me what the frick THEY plan to do I would listen. Now it is infiltrating these posts. And some of the people here are VERY opinionated (hey, Alter Boy, I certainly hope you do a spell check every time you post)! I would like to see a post where people said "this is what my candidate did for me". On second thought, that wouldn't work either, the responses would be relentlessly negative, just like the attack ads on TV.

I once enjoyed coming to this site because I get enough tension 8 hours a day at work, now I would rather work. I have a history of being a smarta$$ on this site, now I am just tired. You people fight it out.

phjim, you have done an awesome job giving us this forum, I wish you well. Hopefully the positive spirit that Jimmy tries to bring to his music will once again come back to this board. Until then...

This is the first site that I ever started posting on when it was called "The Sandbar" back in 2000.
A lot of people left because of a negative poster or two but some are back.
Seems like that can happen from time to time on some sites.

Now there are more posters than ever and every now and then you get some bad apples but you just gotta roll with the punches.
Personally I see nothing wrong with having a heated discussion or two every now and then as long as it does not turn into just trashing each other.
"Most" of the time I "try" to be funny with my posts or at least not too serious.

This is nothing compared to some of the college football boards (lots of negativity on there)
That being said, right now I gotta go back to them and tell them how much FSU rules and everyone else sux

Maybe if we stuck to BUFFETT stuff, we wouldn't get so negative.

I can appreciate someone liking (or hating) a song or CD that comes out, and I can appreciate that everyone wants Jimmy to play in their neck of the (Great) woods, but so often pholks feel there has to be a "right" answer or start piling on against someone who expresses their opinion.

The most useless post I see over and over on this board is the "ditto" post..."What XXX said!"" If you don't have your own opinion, just read, don't write. We don't really need to build alliances against the perceived enemy.

This place is the greatest source of Buffett knowledge, insight and comraderie we can all find. I hope we can work through all the anger that somehow shows up regularly, no matter what the topic. Guess what, for ANY issues there are going to be 16 sides, and yours isn't always the "right" one, no matter how loud you shout.

Only time will tell...

I totally agree, and when people post political stuff and argue - which always ends up to be useless because peoples opnions are not gonna change because of what someone else types on a discussion board - in a jimmy buffett discussion, we are all wasting Phjim's bandwith expenses, so lets all try to keep the Jimmy Buffett Discussion about JB . . . . although what I just typed won't make any difference because most people dont listen to others on discussion boards . . but one things for sure, I will try the best that I can to keep the JB discussion about JB

OK, I said I wouldn't be back, but the I was just at the Panthers' game and they won, and I am getting positive feedback and there are bare breasts on HBO. Life seems a little better.

I still enjoy this site.

Some people just get confused and post threads in inappropriate areas. And if I ignore the negativity, then maybe it will go away.
