Boats to Build Lyrics on RM and M’ville.com

Post by Parrot Monkey »

Has anyone been checking the LTC lyrics on RM? When they first appeared, the message “Permission to Publish Pending” appeared in the place of the majority of the cover songs. It is obvious this is the reason why songwriting credits and lyrics weren’t included with LTC in the first place. Shortly after the lyrics showed up on RM, they acquired permission for all the songs and the lyrics are now up. All, that is, except Guy Clark’s Boats to Build. I’ve been waiting and waiting and checking RM daily for the lyrics to show up so I can print the entire lyric page out and put it with LTC to make the packaging more complete and informative. Now, I just noticed that M’ville.com has the same thing on their site text-wise, with Boats to Build also down for the count.

I’m being patient here, but what’s going on? Are those in charge with Guy Clark’s catalogue not being cooperative?

Yes, I know there are thousands of unofficial sites that could care less about permission where I could find the lyrics, but I want the official thing with all the copyright info below it to be with my printout.

I was thinking along those lines. So I'm obsessed?

No, I just want it to look professional, because when CDs include lyrics they almost always have the copywrite info below each song.

Why dont you go buy the Guy Clark CD Boats To Build, the lyrics are included in it. Then all you have to do is add them yourself.

Thanks, but my reason for starting this thread wasen't because I needed help finding the lyrics, but rather to see if anyone else noticed RM having trouble getting the permisson to reprint them, as they were able to get the other rights rather quickly.

Could this be the "God's Own Drunk" of the new millenia?

Since the various artists that participated in this project are all from different labels I would have thought copyright issues such as these would have been worked out in advance. If songs penned by other artists appear on the album to start with I'm not sure why it's an issue as to why the lyrics and proper credits weren't included.

That's what stumped me. To record a song you don't need the rights but to reprint the lyrics you do? That can't be right. :-?

Not to mention the fact that they're included on Margaritaville.com, or most of 'em anyway.
