I always check the news every morning and every night to see what is going on. And I have read the post submitted by others about how people are repeating old news and fighting over issues. But I am gonna say that I have to agree with those guys. I got on today and I saw I topic that's on the headlines, but if you go under the submit news it's on there. And it was posted 2 weeks before. It's ok if we don't have something to say everyday. But I think we all need to start doing some homework before we post, to make sure the word hasn't already been put out. Cause it is getting old, reading old news.

I've been visiting messageboards and various listservs since I've been online (circa '98) and one thing I've noticed is, unless you have a full time paid moderater to sit there and sort through every post you are just not going to avoid duplicate threads. Case in point, the Led Zeppelin board. The #1 thing posted there is Satan related threads. They even set up a Newbies section to try avoid the frequency of the threads or at least attempt to confine them to one section of the forum. This hasn't worked at all. Those type of threads pervade all sections of the messageboard (even in the off-topic areas). I know I attempt to search through the first few pages of threads before posting something but that doesn't mean I'm going to catch it all. I'm not sure what to do about it but I do know bitching and griping about it or discouraging new people from discussing what are well worn subjects to veteran posters is counterproductive at best. If I see a subject that's already been discussed I usually avoid it unless I feel I have something new to add but I just don't see this problem that seems to bother so many here going away anytime soon.

Maybe if that was made a sticky topic at the top of each section of the messageboard it would help some but I seriously doubt it.

As you can see, rather than discuss the matter at hand people will instead use this thread to make the same wiseass remarks these types of well thought out posts are usually greeted with. And to add fuel to the fire someone has already started another thread with this exact same title which I find to be immature at best. Of course I'll be scolded just for pointing this out but at this stage of the game I really shouldn't be surprised.
