I read that Jimmy tipped his cap (Cubs) to Steve Goodman with "Banana Republic" last week in Tinley Park/Tweeter Center. Was the song that made me a permanent fan.

Aah, Goodman, I should have known I could count on you! He mentioned that he had realized that he had gotten away from doing a Steve Goodman song in Chicago and wanted to get back to it. banana Republics and The Dutchman can both bring me to tears.

This was very special to me-some of you know that while I was in Iowa Wednesday to give a talk, I learned that a good friend and classmate had died-I returned home Thursday for the concert and to get ready to go to St. Louis to speak at her funeral on Saturday (having sold my Saturday night ticket).

Hearing Banana Republics close that concert was worth the price of admission to me-he sounded great, and if you watched him, it seemed to be as intense and personal for Jimmy as it was for me.

I desperately want a recording of this concert so i can have that performance!

Last year Jimmy did "Hotel Room" on Saturday nite in Tinley, so I'm not sure why he feels he's ignoring Steve's music. As you probably know, every time they shout "Go Cubs Go" it's a tip of the hat to Goodman.
I prefer Steve's version of The Dutchman to Jerry Jeff's.

For some strange reason..with all the good music..The only thing going thru my head right now is..
"Men who love women who love men"..

What is up with that?

Yeah, I remember that, and I didn't really think he had slighted Steve, but this is the first time I have heard banana republics in person so it really was special.

Steve was such a wonderful performer, and his sense of humor so came through when you saw him live-I still miss that a lot.

And Go cubs go plays in my car a lot!
