The Mrs & I were in San Francisco last week. We ambled up to Haight-Ashbury and over to a store called Positively Haight-Ashbury. We hoped to buy tshirts there for the kids. I had the LTC tune- Scarlet Begonias in my head (the store is not surprisingly a tribute to Jerry & the Dead). Figured I'd asked a Dead-Head where in the world Grosvenor Square was.

Guy I asked thought Europe. Me thinks it's in Frisco. Anybody know for sure?

It is in London.....I used to work with someone from London and she grew up there. She was a big dead fan and one day when she heard me listening to RM and they played Uncle John's Band by JB and some how the conversation went from JB and the Dead to Scarlett Begonias and Grosvenor Square.

While I was walkin round Frisco I spied a trolley with the name "Grosvenor". Hence I deduce there's likely a venue in Frisco with said name.

There is a hotel out there called the Grosvenor Suites. I think it is near the airport.

My search convinces me the venue of the song was Great Britain. Good result since I'd have hated to miss the site if it was in Frisco.

Of course there is, that's the home of the University of Ga., and an Athens in W.VA., the home of Concord College.
There's also a Rome in Ga., along with Vienna, but no Grosvenor Square.

During WWII, Grosvenor Square was nicknamed "Eisenhower Platz" due to the presence of the American Embassy. Most other buildings on the square during the war housed U.S. military headquarters.

Stayed at the Britannia Hotel at Grovesnor Square couple years back on a Navy trip. Nice hotel, I'm sure it was pricey if I had paid for it myself. Great pubs nearby, alot of international embassies in the area also.
