Tailgaters' Choice of Beverage?
Going to my first show in Pittsburgh on Thursday and I'm trying to decide what (adult) beverages to bring. I'm coming by car (a five hour drive from Canada) and stopping off at the hotel first.
Any suggestions? I'm partial to rum, and tequila. I'd like something that's easy to transport, easy to make, and easy to keep cold/frozen. (Beer is probably the ultimate in that regard but I think I want something a little less mundane.)
Currently I'm thinking of bringing one of those frozen margarita containers -- you know, the kind where you just add the tequila and stick it in the freezer overnight. I've always thought this makes an inferior margarita but it'll be a lot easier than making them from scratch. I can stick the container in a cooler, pack it with some ice or ice packs, and it should still be at least slushy by the time I get to the parking lot.

The Tub-o-Margarita is a good option. I tend to go with what's free.
I also like rum and a splash of Coke. Two bottles; not too hard to keep up with. One bottle if I mix it in a 2-liter before I go.
Whatever you go with, just be sure to save some room for water. You never know when you might need some.

I love vanilla rum and coke. But if you're looking for something less ordinary, the Tastefully Simple Prickly Pear Punch is great, you make a batch as directed on the package, and then add a bottle of Wild Cherry Cabana Boy rum. But they are discontinuing the punch today, so you might not be able to get it.

Found this a little late, but here's a suggestion for next year:
What we do is make a big batch of Margaritas the morning of the show. We get one of those big plastic jugs with the spout near the bottom (kind of a smaller version of those igloo water jugs the road crews use...about a 3 gallon size), and fill it with tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice (we're not mix people) according to whatever recipe you like.
Just have some ice handy once you're at the show and you'll be in business!

Key Lime Pie (alcohol)
1 oz Vanilla vodka
1 oz Tucow
splash or pineapple juice
spash of Rosa's Lime juice
Mix over crushed ice and drink
Tastes just like a real Key Lime Pie, but with a wallop!
Be careful 2 or 3 and you'll be incomunicado!

You should try living in different times zones from your significant other. Going back to forth to Alabama, I never know what time my body is in.fairhopeparrot wrote:I know!! Thank God!!!
