I'd literally be willing to bet the farm that you will think very differently by the end of the season. Ben is no Ryan Leaf! Please... :x

He's not perfect...but until his record isn't, you have to have respect for and be impressed by #7!

The guy has played in 5 NFL games 5! And people are calling him the next Dan Marino  It seems every year a QB come in, plays well for a few games, everyone jumps on his bandwagon then 2 years later he is a back up in Cincy. He played well against the Patriots I just wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be, he takes way to many chances and right now he is getting away with them, lets see how well he does in December and Jan. The league will figure him out soon then we will see how good he is.

In my last post I meant to say he reminds me of the rookie season Drew Brees had not Ryan Leaf, it's hard to keep all those SD QB's in order.

Okay, that's fair... glad you clarified on the Brees/Leaf thing... I couldn't take you seriously if you really thought Ben was comparable to Ryan Leaf.

And I'm not judging Ben based on his 5 games this season... I've been watching him for years at Miami. And if the argument is made that he didn't play against the best competition at a MAC school, I'm gonna puke! :x

I think he was compared to Dan Marino when Dan was a rookie. And as far as the league figureing him out, what is there to figure? He just plays well, no hidden secrets to figure out. And he has a team around him that is playing well.

At the half way point in the season.....The San Diego Chargers have scored the most points in the NFL :o :o :o
This is just a tease isn't it? The real bumbling, stumbling Chargers are going to return....Brees threw for 5 TD's yesterday and LT got his one a game rushing TD!!!!
What is happenning to sports in my world....The Sox win it all, and punk the Yanks along the way...the Chargers embarras the Raida's. Whats next....the Bolts in the playoffs or the Padres signing Pedro?....My limited capacity for change cannot handle all of this :o :o

GO BOLTS!

He is not even close to Marino as a rookie. Marino's first full year (84) was arguable the best year for any quarterback ever... 5,000 yards, 48 touchdowns etc... Even in 83 he played in just 9 games and thru 20 TD's and only 6 Int's. Ben is not even in the ballpark.

Rothlisberger: Like Ann, I watched him play several times at Miami. I said he should be the top QB taken in the draft, and I was upset that my Chargers took Rivers ahead of him.

As for the MAC arguement....how many of the best QB's in the NFL went to "big schools"....

Culpepper: Central Florida.
Favre: Southern Miss.
Hasselback: Boston College.
McNair: Alcorn State.
Pennington: Marshall.
Leftwich: Marshall.
Delhomme: Louisiana-Lafayette
Carr: Fresno St.
Warner: Northern Iowa
(And that's just off the top of my head)

It's about skills, not opposition.

As for the Chargers, I hope they're for real....not counting on it, they've let me down before, but I never believed they were the worst team in the NFL. Brees has always been good, but without weapons, anyone will struggle. I'm just glad he's keeping Rivers on the bench.

And to BottleOfRum: You're right in the Brees comparison. Comparing him to Leaf was wrong, but I understand the mistake. They've had some bad QB's haven't they?

Boston College NOT A BIG SCHOOL  . They played Miami, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Wake Forest every Year Hasselback was there!

The Leaf/ Brees was a typo mistake.

The Pats defense as much as this paines me to say is still one of the best. Let's put things in perspective here. They are 21-1 over the last 22 games :o. They had to lose sometime to someone. In the end the Pats will be there and Ben and Steelers will be at home. This coming from someone who hates the Paytoilets almost as much as the Yankees!

I don't think BOR is being angry, just realistic. Steelers before yesterday have beaten the Raiders, Fins :( Bengals, Browns and Cowboys combined record 11-25 :o. Lets hold off on any comparisons.

Rothlisberger's winning streak in games HE starts is now 19. Almost as long as the Patriot's streak.

The Patriots did not get beat by Ben Roth-----berger they got beat by the Steelers Defense, they caused 4 turnovers one they ran back for a TD, 2 put the ball inside the Patriots 20. Lets revisit this in Jan. and see who was right!

Have you seen the Jet's track record?
They STILL haven't beaten a team that had a win on the board at the time:
Cincy was 0-0
SD was 0-1
Miami was 0-3
Buffalo was 0-3
San Fransisco was 0-4
Then they lost to New England.

The teams they beat are NOW a combined: 11-25, with San Diego accounting for 5 of the wins.
