what about all the people who were familiar with Leaf, Couch, A Smith, ( the list could go one forever) who all said the same thing. This guy is the next big thing trust me I watched all his college games... I'm pretty sure that if I watched a couple of Miami of Ohioiuparrothead wrote:And I can see someone who is not familiar with Ben saying that. Almost every Patriots game I say at least once "Thank God....and Mo Lewis"!
Brady didn't become a phenom until the Patriots beat the Rams in SB36 i.e. a big game! Let's see how well Ben Roth----berger does in a meaningful game on the road in December (@Jax, @ NYG)
Fact is he has only thrown for over 200 yards once this season, sooner or later he will have to pick up his team and win a game on his own, something Brady is a master at, can Ben do it?????

True. I understand your point and it's valid. Maybe I can't give you a more tangible reason other than "I just know"...RAGTOP wrote:what about all the people who were familiar with Leaf, Couch, A Smith, ( the list could go one forever) who all said the same thing. games I would have the same opinion. I just don't jump to these conclusions after 5 games. By the way what he did in college can be thrown out the window... doesn't matter anymore.
One thing you cannot do though is minimize the competition of the MAC, especially not the Miami team Ben played on last year. There is a good reason they got the national television exposure they did last year. And they soundly beat Louisville in the GMAC bowl.
I'm never one to say "He's the next big thing" about anybody. I never would have said it about Leaf and Couch... they were jokes. Hell, there were tons of Brett Favre comparisons for Rex Grossman. I don't believe them for a second. Do I wish they were legit? Hell yeah! I watched Rex play a lot too, but I didn't see half the things in him that I have seen watching Ben play.

The last 2 times I said it, it was Byron Leftwich and Chad Pennington. And I think Ben will make it for the same reasons.RAGTOP wrote:Nobody is saying that he doesn't have the potential to be a great QB (actually BOR is but he is a Pats fan so what does he know) I'm just saying that every year there is some quarterback that comes out and plays some good games against mediocre teams and all of a sudden the Marino/Montanna comparisons pop upIt's just silly to me.

Chad Pennington hasn't been the same since he got hurt. Prior to that most National Football 'experts' had him ahead of Brady!LIPH wrote:I have mixed feelings about Pennington. Maybe it's the play calling by the offensive coordinator but when you have a receiver like Santana Moss you shouldn't be throwing 6 yard passes.
I think Chad Pennington is a good QB but not at the level he was before getting hurt!
Having Paul Hacket calling the plays doesn't help either.

By the way is there anyone in this world more annoying than the JETS JETS JETS guy? Does he have a contract with ABC that states his face must be shown at least 30 times a game. We get it he leads the chant
