Raful Neal Passes On
Raful Neal, one of the patriarchs of Louisiana Blues passed away Wednesday at 68 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Raful chose to stay in La. when all his other band buddies (Buddy Guy, Slim Harpo, etc) chose the road. He played clubs throughout his career and worked day jobs to raise his family of ten, almost all of whom now have their own distinguished musical careers. Honored as an ambassador of the blues on a European tour in the 1990's, Raful willed be sorely missed by those touched by his music. His legend lives on in the form of his incredibly gifted children. Just ask Zachary Richard or Sonny Landreth. This has nothing to do with JB other virtually all music played today has origins in the blues. Rest in peace, Raful, we will miss you.
I belong in the past, I was not meant to last, and I hope I get there one day!
