Please don't play "Scarlet Begonias" at Fenway Park! The last verse begins with "Wind in the willows playin' "Tea For Two"", "Tea for Two" was from the play "No No Nannette" which was the play that Babe Ruth was sold to the Yankees for to finance. I feel playing this song at Fenway would be disasterous! Does this sound like an overkill superstitious request, maybe so, but when was the last time you saw the Sox win a World Series?

"Reading departure signs in some big airport
Reminds me of the places I've been.
Visions of good times that brought
so much pleasure
makes me want to go back again."

I hope that all the greedy bastards in the world
Come back as lobsters.
You know that life at the bottom of the food chain
Suits them well.
I think that all of the evil people of the world
Come back as horseflies,
They want one last bite before they're sent to hell.

The BoSox and the Cubbies will never win a WS again if they keep believing in all this curse stuff.
You ain't ever going to win, so you may as well enjoy a fantastic Dead cover!

It already has, they traded Babe for the (insert that long winded connection) and got Jimmy. Unless you were of Babe's era, I think you would be the winner here.Coconuts wrote:Superstitious stuff like this is why I love Red Sox fans!!!
(But if he plays it, maybe it'll break the curse?)

please play...
Being that the show is a Fenway; a Buffett version of Dirty Water would be awesome and interesting.

If you caught HBO's "The Curse of The Bambino"....it showed how that urban legend is false...Babe Ruth was not traded to finance a musical...Typical of a Red Sox fan.....even Dan Shaunessy (sp?) said that it was a false rumor......Johnny's Lounge wrote:Please don't play "Scarlet Begonias" at Fenway Park! Actually, the Red Sox owner was in debt, in part due to the flop of a previous flop musical, so the legend is PARTIALLY true...

As a baseball fan, I cheer the Red Sox on for several reasons...the downfall of the evil empire, for the ending of moronic curses, and to prove that the Red Sox can finally win the "Big Game". None the less, I am a avid Pittsburgh fan, but we all know I have to wait a while for them to pull through, so in the meantime I root for the Red Sox down the stretch.
PHINS UP!!!

Well the rumor pertained to No No Nanette.....so......I think it's been proven falseCaptainP wrote:weirdo0521 wrote:If you caught HBO's "The Curse of The Bambino"....it showed how that urban legend is false...Babe Ruth was not traded to finance a musical...Typical of a Red Sox fan.....even Dan Shaunessy (sp?) said that it was a false rumor......Johnny's Lounge wrote:Please don't play "Scarlet Begonias" at Fenway Park! I just fail to comprehend the thinking of Red Sox Nation that two artists with ties to the NY area can exorcise this supposed "curse".
If they are really serious about it, get Aerosmith to play and scare the demons (as well as those pesky Fenway neighbors, can you imagine the cow they would have considering how frightened they were of a PH invasion
) into leaving.
