Please Don't Give Us a Bad Name
OK, fellow parrotheads. I know that this concert, in lieu of Great Woods. hurts many of our feelings, but PLEASE respect the wishes of Boston. Keep an even keel, party only where allowed, pee only where allowed and save our PH Nation's clean reputation. Enjoy the show. I'm not going because I boycotted the Fenway fiasco, since I felt that GW is the best (and only) place to hold this concert. I'm hoping (any many others, too) that GW will be on the agenda next year, where we can commence our PH parties without being harrassed by the City Council. Fins Up!
I got a big suspicion about ammunition - I never forget to duck!

The concern isn't going to be so much with those attending the concert as it is with the local college kids who don't have tickets and will see this as an excuse to create havoc like they did during the SuperbowlKey Lime Lee wrote:I can't believe they're really more worried about us "middle-aged" "grey-haired" Parrotheads more than they are about the normal Red Sox bleacher crowd...

Why do they claim the concert is "nearly sold-out". This show sold out in under 15 minutes. Why would they give the impression to people that is isn't sold out?

Re: fenway
It technically isn't sold out since they are holding ticklets back to be released close to the event. There have already been some ticket releases. The Sox do this with every home game and this has generally hurt the scalpers. Is it sold out...no, will it be sold out... of course.parrothead338 wrote:Why do they claim the concert is "nearly sold-out". This show sold out in under 15 minutes. Before reading the story today I knew it would be less than flattering based on what happened between the writer and Buffett. The writer of the story Larry Katz and Buffett had a spat about 7-8 years ago over a story he wrote. In the story he claimed Buffett told him he was going to retire after that year's tour, Buffett said he never said that and only told him he would be cutting back on his tour (which Buffett did the next year). Katz said he could prove Buffett said he was retiring he claimed he recorded the whole interview..... needless to say Buffett did not retire and the alleged recorded interview was never made public. Ever since then Larry Katz has written some less than good reviews about Buffett, his music, his band and his concerts. I am not taking sides but it seems the writer has an agenda when it comes to Buffett.

Katz is a bumb, writing for a 2nd rate newspaper. Since more than half to 75% of the people attending will be Red Sox season ticket holders, I guess he's dumping on them the most.
BTW, I've been called many-a-thing in my day... An "Eyesore" has never been one. That's a new one I can proudly chalk up now.

That's not what he said in the story... he said the concern was Parrotheads... middle-aged parrotheads at that.RAGTOP wrote:The concern isn't going to be so much with those attending the concert as it is with the local college kids who don't have tickets and will see this as an excuse to create havoc like they did during the SuperbowlKey Lime Lee wrote:I can't believe they're really more worried about us "middle-aged" "grey-haired" Parrotheads more than they are about the normal Red Sox bleacher crowd...

oh my gosh, I had to cover my eyes less than half way thru this article.
I'm from Cincinnati and the reporter would be flogged and made to walk the plank if he lived here. Shame on him!
Guess I will need to dig out my voodoo doll and name it Larry Katz for a few days....give him a few good sticks with my pins.
Because I am from the mid-west and not familiar with Boston newpapers and mags can someone tell me.... Is the Boston Herald a rag mag like the Enquirer or Star or is it a "REAL" news mag?
Parrot Head Rule ....while Larry Katz drools!

That's why I wrote what I did. Someone will want to use the existing Parrotheads as a scapegoat when all is said and done.Key Lime Lee wrote:I can't believe they're really more worried about us "middle-aged" "grey-haired" Parrotheads more than they are about the normal Red Sox bleacher crowd...

His last sentences...
"Even so, if I lived in the Fenway I'd plan a trip out of town this weekend. The risk of finding a gaggle of hopped-up Parrot Heads holding a luau on your front steps has never been greater."
My defense mechanism kneejerk reaction, going after the bad grammar...
How would one "live in the Fenway"? DORK! Lost all credibility letting this omission slip through!

Ummm....Tiki......there's actually a chunk of the city surrounding the park that's referred to as The Fenway. It's a location reference.Tiki Bar wrote:His last sentences...
