Most Underrated song!
If there ever was a song besides margaritaville that deserves to be a set list staple at every concert its Fruitcakes! and i'll tell you why.....
all you have to do is look at the music video for this to see its impact on us all. since this song no one has to think twice of what they will wear to concerts or how to act...also jimmy says all the time that he doesn't take this s**t to seriously and this epitomizes that statement. Its this attitude that will keep the parrothead fever alive for a long time.....
Do you agree with me?

I'm not sure I'd go that far. The Live By The Bay video came out over 5 years earlier and people were acting just as crazy then. To me, Fruitcakes was just Jimmy laughing about things he saw around him. It's the same with a lot of his other songs - We Are The People and Gypsies in the Palace come immediately to mind.
Bottom line, Jimmy gets as big a kick out of us as we do him. That's what makes it so much fun.

It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

Maybe it's me
But do you ever wonder if Mac cracks a grin during the "License to Chill" singing, "Work, work, work. A big pile of it, and the boss is a jerk"?

"I enjoy this life as a jester
Seems to keep me moving around
Like the wind that blows, tides that flow
I have my ups and downs"

Absolutely- been a "Jimmy phan" since the'70s- but it was Barometer Soup that made a believer and a true parrothead. And don't forget Lage Nom Ai and Blue Heaven Rendezvous!changingchannels wrote:Barometer Soup. the entire album is underrated and seldom does he play anything from it besides mexico or barefoot children... that album is a masterpiece and includes some of the his and the reefers all time best writing..just listen to remitance man, diamond as big as the ritz, the night i painted the sky, etc.
In the album's liner notes he states " We loaded all our gear into the the Fish Camp and built a little working studio with a waterfront view...we peddled our bikes and mo-peds across town to Shrimp Boat Sound and in between the departures of the schooner Wolf and the occasional spring breakers we cooked up our Barometer Soup." - a true Buffett classic.
There's wind in our hair
And there's water in our shoes
It's been a lovely cruise.

I never paid any attention to this song until he did it in Tampa back in April. Now I love it.
And nobody ever talks about "Love in Decline" which is definitely one of my faves.
