Help me find my lost shaker of salt (and pepper); no really!

Ok fellow BNers, I'm looking for some help. Without going into the whole history (unless anyone really wants to hear it), I'm looking for a set of Aunt Jemima salt and pepper shakers.

A close friend of mine and I have picked up on a tradition started by my dad and her uncle (former college roommates). Every year they swap a set that they bought at a yard sale in college. Two rules; they must be publicly displayed for at least one year and they have to come in a unique manner when least expected.

My friend gave me a set of Aunt Jemima S&P shakers last year from New Orleans. I've decided to go one set further and get a new set. I would like the shakers to show or say where they are from, however that's not a big deal. If I could get some from Dallas that would be great since we went to the Dallas show this year together.

What I need from you all is just to keep an eye out for them. If you see some that I might be interested in, please post it here or PM me. I'll be happy to send you money for the shakers and shipping.

Yes, I know I could go to eBay, but if you are out just keep your eyes open. Plus, it might spark more involvement and other threads similar to "what do you collect". Also remember that these don't have to be new shakers. The original set was bought at a garage sale for $0.25.

BTW, here's a picture of one set. Keep in mind that they do NOT need to look like this. The original set is plastic and green. As long as its Americana version of "Aunt Jemima" or "black mammy".

I'll keep an eye out. I stop at a fair bit of yard sales and flea markets.

Remember they don't have to look like this. Since they usually are more of a gag gift, they can be a little more obnoxious (but they have to be publicly displayed).

Another note for everyone is that this is not an immediate need. I'm looking to have them before Christmas.

Oh yeah, there are tons of things out there like this. The original set is green. They are very rare.

If that cracks you up, you should hear some of the stories on how the shakers have been traded. Everything from being shipped from a brothel to being baked in a cake.

It just goes to show, one person's junk is another person's treasure!

After seeing bajillions of them on ebay, can you give me any history on the set? Could you mail in for them with your syrup p-o-p or something?

To be honest, the only "history" that I know of on the set is that my dad and former roommate (my godfather) needed a set of shakers. Being in college (and a little on the hippie side :pirate: ) extra money was a little tight. They bought this set at a yard/garage sale for $0.25. The price sticker was still on them until that scary cake baking incident. :o

I've looked for a similar set all over just to show you pictures, but I can't seem to find them.
