Man, I can't believe my eyes, where are all those vocal anti-scalping folks when the facts come out ! Hiding !? You've all had a few good shots at me (other than Mr. Scott, Albatross and Burgh Bird). Can't a guy have a little revenge ? Albatross notes while the Artist isn't directly involved, they know full well what is going on which is why many of them have come out aganist scalping because they aren't getting their share of the inflated ticket price. So, we can conclude, I guess, in the lack other evidence that Jimmy is aware of his tickets being scalped.
Could he do anything ? Of course. Phish sells many tickets directly to their fans. Bubba could do that if he wanted to. He could also apply pressure on the promoters, etc. to make sure most of his tickets get in the hands of the real Parrotheads. He does neither. I'm not bashing the guy because as you know I support Ticket Brokering. But, I go back to my question from a few posts ago (which no brave anti-scalper was willing to jump on): What is you people of "principal" -- music or principal ??? I feel your principal melting away.... Maybe you are not answering as you all are out boycotting Jimmy's house in Sag's Harbor ? That must be it...

Anon- We'll just say that the target of my ire has broadened, and leave it at that. Now that I've heard all this, I wonder how I would feel if I knew someone who worked "on the inside" and I was offered tickets. I probably wouldn't argue, although my Catholic guilt tells me maybe I should. (Who am I kidding? I'd be ecstatic!) But for me, for now, I'm still gonna buy my tickets the old-fashioned way. Ahhh, but don't worry. I won't go postal on anyone if I don't get them.

Anon- I think I remember a point early in the concert season last year, when I read that Jimmy had grown tired of the battle with ticketmaster and was considering ways to sell tickets without them. I guess nothing came of that. I wish I wish I wish, but how does one get around selling thru ticketmaster? Pearl Jam tried it, and gave up their fight, didn't they?

bird- he can't. ticketmaster or like firm has venue contracts. i.e. they sell all tickets for every event at the given arena, stadium etc..... the artist has no say in the process. this is BIG business too.

That's what I thought. There's no escaping tiketmaster. Yup, I guess it is big business.

Anon- Though I am not speaking for the rest of the birds here, my guess as to why you have not heard from the rest of the group is simply this. This issue has been taken up more than once. In fact this is the second time on this thread alone. It was already a dead horse when you jumed in here for round 2. They are, as well as I am, tired of this battle. No one is going to win this arguement, and they have wasted too much frustration and happy energy, and so have I. So it looks like they just chose not to discuss the issue anymore, especially with you. I'm agreeing to disagree, and that's it for me. Enjoy the Oakland show!

Bird - Appreciate your comments, Thanks. Albatross - Excellent work on flushing out the facts. Mr. Scott - A TRUE Parrothead - Fins Up !

With respect to Birds's last post, they ( the ANTI - SCALPERS) are apparently "tired of the battle". And Buffy's comment of "enough beating a dead horse". They sure the hell weren't tired the other day when I was being called everything but a human being for supporting Ticket Brokering. It was akin to a Rodney King beating.

Now the facts come out and their ire has apparently broadened. Why because the scalping trade includes, to some extent or another, the man and the music they (we) love. To a greater extent it includes his promoters. So, all of you "principled" people out there: I suggest continuing to hide in the weeds. I don't know if "wimp" is the right word or not. I can think of few others more appropriate which I won't use here. You either choose the music or your "principles". There are no other choices.

I'll just say this: the next time someone tells you they buy tickets from a scalper to see a Buffett show and/or say they support the practice, you might want to consider showing a bit more respect.

Get off your high horses too.

Bird - I like your comments and honesty. If any of you were offered tickets from the inside, would you accept them ? Of course you would. As I said early on, live and let live. If you want to beat your heads bloody trying to buy tickets through Ticketbastard, continue to do so. I hope you snag some good ones along the way. For the rest of us, who choose to go another route, let us - please - in peace and without your condesending comments.

I wish you people would knock it off. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and there is nothing at all wrong with having a difference of opinion. There's no need to get mad because someone has a different opinion. Neither one of you is going to convince the other one.

Reading this message board should be a pleasant experience. PH Jim did not put this message board on his site so people could argue through the computer.

Call to action: Agree to disagree, and start using this board in the spirit that PH Jim intended.

Finzz up!

That's what I'm talking about, Anon. I expressed an opinion as did Mr. Scott previously and we both got pounded on pretty good, called names, and attacked personally - including threatining e-mails. I agree to disagree. For the 3rd time, live and let live. Don't be telling me how to spend my money and coming off higher than thou, that's all. I could care less how other Parrotheads buy their tickets and was only trying to suggest scalping is not a mortal sin. Fins Up to you !

Personal choice is the American way! Some just don't see it that way, and they never will. I agree with a call to action: Be nice. I gave apology to old hippy for being harsh, she accepted, and STILL replies to me. Thanks to parrothead Jim for removing very nasty comments against me by a few people. I agree with anon2. Lets use the board for the purpose it was intended.

Amen, Mr. Scott. OK, does anyone know where or if Club Trini is playing before the Oakland concert ? (I'm trying to change topics per the call to action !). I assume they played at the FL concerts ?

Hi Anon - Club trini played at the Tampa show, but inside this time. We missed 'em 'cause once you go in the Ice Palace, ya can't go back out! And we were having too much fun at Newk's(bar) to go in so early. They played AT Newks last time they were here, I'm not sure why that changed. It's always a pleasure to see club trini up close and personal!

Thanks, Mr. Scott...Oh, I'll be there early. I called and asked when they opened the parking lot and they said 6:30 for an 8:00 PM show. I asked if that was 6:30 AM or PM !!! The lady at the box office didn't find that amusing...

anon-143.199.125.10 since we're dropping this topic now, you may wish to relocate to the more benign thread of "who's going to the oakland show..."

since you're the local, any suggestions for a hangout in san jose for those of us moving on to the sat. show?

Albatross - A couple of suggestions: Fuel, which is right near the arena - about a half-mile away. They often have some latin/salsa type band going, usually pretty fun. It is on Almaden Ave. Another one is Toons which is on Santa Clara.
Hope that helps and wish I could be there (I booked a trip to Jamaica leaving at 7:00 AM on the same day - DAMN !). I'll try to get by to the Hilton... Later...

Mr Scott - Thanks very much for the "stuff". I'm sending you the Parrothead dues and an JB autographed photo from early on I got from him about 15 years ago (he's wearing a Miami Dolphins jersey). The autograph is real. I would have offered it to some of the others but they were (are) jerks and I'd rather you have it as you are, no doubt, a true Parrothead... Thanks, for your support, Buddy !
