I just don't get NASCAR. I'd rather watch paint dry.

It's like anything else - you have to take the time to learn it...

I mean, baseball is damned boring most of the time unless you care about either team involved...

I like NASCAR---I'm not sure I understand it, but I like to watch.

And like Lee said, it helps if you have a favorite team (or driver/crew in this case).

Well I will agree that NASCAR is getting more screwed up

BUT............

1 - Profanity is a NO-NO
2 - NASCAR is a sport
3 - It's not the end of the world, life will go on. Deal with it.

If you want to compare sports...
football is just running up and down a field
basketball is the same

base ball is running around a field

hockey is fighting on ice

Beach volleyball is 98% nude girls jumping around trying to smack a poor defenseless ball. :o 8)

At least there is physical activity. NASCAR the car is running. Thus it is an activity. Just like my commute is an activity that I have to do every day. The only difference is that they do it a high speeds, and I turn both left and right.

I could do without the ball.

This was on NBC... FX is a cable channel so they can probably get away with more.

Try your commute at 180 MPH, bumper to bumper, with the temp in your car reaching 140 F (not to mention the race and fire suit). Trying to turn the car 140-180 degrees with no power steering. Now imagine the car behind you gives you a little tap or maybe you just hit a little debris; now heading towards a concrete barrier at 180 MPH.

I would say there's a little physical activity.

These are the facts of life.....

People who like racing say the drivers are athletes.
People who don't like racing say the drivers are not athletes

but concider these facts.......

Horseracing is a sport where the jockey is given much glory

Poker, Billards, and Bowling are "sports" shown on ESPN

And let's not even discuss half of the "sports" in the Olympics

Let's all just agree to disagree, get along, and have fun :D :D :D

I remember this study they did when I was a kid. They were trying to show that stock car drivers really are athletes, that they can do things "normal" people can't do. As I recall they found one thing that set them apart - they could read the label of a record spinning at 78 RPM.

Seriously. Try it sometime.

Here's my take......Jimmy dedicated "Take Another Road" to Dale Sr shortly after his untimely death at Daytona a fews years back. I didn't even watch NASCAR then but it got my attention. Heck he even made TV last year attending Homestead or was it the summer race in Daytona not sure. Jimmy hasn't been wrong too many times. Have you ever heard the motor in one of those racecars? That'll get you hooked. I'll stick up for racefans in that the 2 races I have gone to (Fontana 03 and Sonoma 04) everyone had fun and when it comes down to it a day in the sun with beer, loud noise, and fun, it's not much different then going to a JB show. NASCAR did what they did. And as they say in racin' "it is what it is". :D 8) :D 8) :D 8)

Personally I think NASCAR is quicky transforming auto racing into one of the stupidest "sports" in the country.

Frankly I think E and the rest of the drivers should refuse to do interviews so as not to expose themselves to the chance of losing points. That will make NASCAR happy - no chance of FCC violations then....
I think that all sports should let the players/drivers/etc have a shower and at least 45 min. to chill out. Set up a table answer, some questions
and go on about their life. I would sound like a jacka$$ if you asked me a
stupid question just after I walked out the doors at quiting time.
