"Get A Life"

Post by wanderingtoes »

Maybe it is the wine tonight but that had a little sting in it. I would think Jimmy wishes he had that statement back, not that it will matter to most of us, but I'll hear about it from some non-PH's. The truth is we all have lives we just choose to make him part of it. According to his basic thought if we truely got a life, he might not have such a good one. More wine please!

You want some cheese with your whine? I think he was joking.
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

A coworker gave me a hard time about that line a while back- I looked at him and told him I was spending Fourth of July Weekend in DC with 60 of my friends that were coming in from 12 states and asked what his plans were. He never gave me a hard time about it again.

forgive my ignorance, but what is the get a life reference to, is that something jimmy said about parrotheads. The beer and pipes have kept me away from the board for a few!!!

At the risk of incurring the wrath of the Board, he's right in his quote. He said (something to the effect of ... ) "sometimes I want to say get a life!"

Can you imagine what we all must be like to Mr. Buffett at times? Think about it. Everybody wants him to be the consumate beach-life guy. But that's not who he is -- at least not all the time. He needs time away, too.

We all take this too seriously from time to time. Just read the many posts that go from nice to nasty in .05 seconds. It's one of the reasons I don't spend as much time here as I used to. People take this stuff WAYYYYY to seriously.

Let's have fun, enjoy what we have, but remember that the Hokey Pokey may be what it's all about!

ENJOY life! Reject the negative and embrace the positive!!!

Oh cripes, now I sound like Jack Handy.....................

Off to find more brandy..........

Flame away..............

Since he makes 26M a year and more than that now, maybe he doesn't get it anymore. We are happy for his success and for contributing to it, but I sure don't want to have to get another life to make him happy. Maybe he needs to listen to CILCIA and A1A, that is what we like.

I am curious as to why they would choose to open the piece with that footage. Personally, I think it makes him look like an ungrateful a-hole. But like has been said above, I don't blame him, much. We do go a little overboard.

Plus, I am sure it's not easy being JB. Why else would he need so much darn therapy, right?

I don't think he meant it insultingly in the 1st place, but the fact it was 7 years ago shouldn't matter any more. It seems to me all recent references Jimmy makes about parrot heads is completely complimentary and appreciative, and that's what should matter now.

I watched a tape of tonight's 60 min long after my family went to bed, but I'm guessing my husband will have new found respect for him based solely on that statement alone!! :P I can use all the help I can get!

Hmmmm.. can you say 'tongue in cheek'? ;)

Goodness me, folks.. :) It was said with humor. :D

If it wasn't? Could he really have said how much he LOVES his 'job' after all these years?? 8)

At least it wasn't William Shatner telling us to get a life!

But seriously, think about what JB sees everywhere he performs.
Every crowd must look pretty much like the same group of lei-
wearing goofballs. After all, I'd probably start to wonder whether
those people had lives either! Of course he loves us. Everywhere
he goes, he has dozens of helpful fans to assist him with whatever
situation he finds himself in. We're good people (on the whole,
anyway ) and he knows that and appreciates it. JMHO
