Massachusetts Senator Question

I watched the debate tonight and I heard Pres. Bush keep bringing up the fact that Sen Kerry is from Massachusetts. I live in central Illinois and I have never been to the state, but is there something wrong with the people as Pres Bush is suggesting? Are their values that much different from other parts of the country? I just don't see the reasoning behind that line of "insults". Maybe other people can shed some light on this for me since I am just a poor slob from a fly over state!

Thanks!

I believe most of our PHs from Mass will tell you they dislike their senator.
Perhaps the prez was throwing out insults directed to senators from Mass.

I didn't get that. He has called him a Massachusetts Libral from day one. I think when he recites the state name, he is generalizing the entire state, since after all, they elected him four times. It just seems to me that he is belittling the state. What would people of Florida think if John Kerry was from Florida and the President referred to him as a Floridian Libral? People from both states share the same values for the most part, (strong economy, safer at home, the environment and things like that)so I just don't see the reasoning behind the attact. After all, they are both a part of the United States.

Hey, I'm not taking up for the jerk,
even if he is president.
I'm no big fan of Ted Kennedy either,
so I'd imagine W was just trying to
lump Kerry in with him to turn off the
Kennedy haters.

Showing a relation to Ted Kennedy? :-?
Elected by one of the smallest states? :-?
Kerry is a Senator while Bush is a President? :-?

Who knows? Basically they just keep arguing and neither one is going to be able to fulfill their promises.

yes there is something wrong with being a MA liberal.they s** a$$ and should never ever be allowed to serve in any office anywhere.as a matter of fact they should be deported to france where they belong so i dont ever have to see another one.then maybe my state might be a nice place to live.currently however i hate it like you cannot ever possibly imagine

I never had a problem with Kerry or Kennedy and I've lived most of my life in Massachusetts... I'd take 1000 of them over one Bill Weld.

And why is it that places defined as "liberal" are usually also known as centers of higher education? Is it really considered a liability to be educated? When did we stop valuing leaders who were better educated than us?

lived in Ma for 31 years, moved to NH 10 years ago, light years better. No income tax, no sales tax, people will say hello on the street, state reps make, $100 a year so they serve because they feel a duty to do so, not because it is a big paycheck, I am guessing the ave state senator/state rep fromMa is up to 100k a year, for six months work. auto insurance 1/3 of the Ma towns we live next to. House prices are cheaper, We dont have to pay extra to allow our children to ride the bus to school, or play school sports, as many Ma towns now do. Yes our propert taxes are high, about the same as Ma, but we know 92% of it goes to our local schools. The welfare syatem starts at every towns Townhall. Our town, like all others inNH, set aside an amount every year for those who need it, ie clothes, food coupons, rent while you are getting backon your feet. No governor will ever get elected if he/she doesn't take the NO INCOME TAX pledge I would never move back, unless it is to Plum Island.

Of course, you are the only person I know on the board who considers Ted too conservative.
