Outlook Question

Post by nycparrothead »

Okay fellow parrotheads! I need your help in order to continue to be the ultimate slacker.

Long story short: We have to sign in and out at work by sending an email to the boss. Our relief shows up at 3 pm and we're not aloud to sign out till 3:30 which means we have to sit around for a half hour for no other reason than to appease the boss. Now, with our old e-mail system there was a way to "Later" our emails. In other words, write the e-mail at 3 o'clock but time stamp it for 3:30 so it looked like we actually stayed till 3:30. But now the boss has switched us to Outlook.

The question: Do any of you know a way to "Later" a message in outlook so that there is no way of telling that it was actually written before the time that is attached to it?

Most of the people that relieve me can't even tie their own shoes. Ain't no way I'm trusting them with my password to my e-mail. :-?

Well, I suppose that's possible. But I should have also mentioned that there's probably only 1 evening shift person that would even be willing to do that. The other people are wholesome, non-corrupted souls... (Ya know, like Kitty. ) :P

Shane if you're using outlook 2003, on your toolbar when you type your msg there will be an options button. There you can choose to have the email delivered at a specific time and date.
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

OK.

Open a new mail message. Type all the info you wnat to include inc. to name, subject and body.

At the top menu bar click on VIEW then OPTIONS , put a check mark in the box next to DO NOT DELIVER BEFORE and fill in the date and time....... then hit send, it will sit in your OutBox until the time you set.....

Then Go home!

Onlt draw back is you have to keep your Outlook open so turn off your monitor.

Leaving Outlook open is the same as giving someone your password ... it would be open always .. :o :o

I have never left my computer on for the msg to be delivered however I believe on our system at work it is stored on the file server and not actually in my computer.

Hmmm.. I'll have to play with it more tomorrow.. The "options" is under Tools not View on my version and I can't find the DO NOT DELIVER BEFORE thing.. Also, leaving the computer on isn't an option cause as soon as I leave my relief takes over the computer.... Thanks though dude! I'll look into it more tomorrow! :D

This feature only works if Outlook is open, as I said it is a drawback but pick your poison, either stay until 3:30 and close Outlook or leave early and keep it open. If you think someone may use your computer and read your mail, depending on the version of windows you have you can add a screen savor password which is easily by-passed by restarting the computer but that would also close any opened programs
