Stuck with Tickets in Vegas
Anyone else get stuck with their extra tickets in Vegas this last weekend?
I had an offer up on the BN exchange, eBayand one other site. No takers at even close to face value.
Went out to the show and took in several pre-concert events still no takers.
I had some fella offer me $20 a seat (orig $105+TM chgs) - turned him down just on principle.
I know I wasn't the only one standing out there offering up tickets for sale.
Also if you did sell them out in Vegas did you get face value for them?

The Buffett shows in Vegas are not as big as Jimmy thinks they are. He used to do Vegas once every 2 years now it seems he is there 3-4 times a year and charging the price he does for tickets for shows there shuts out allot of people.
I have seen Buffett in Vegas many times and the shows are fun but IMO overrated.

The problem with Vegas tickets is all supply and demand....so many people put together groups and than a couple people back out and you have extra tickets left over. Compound this fact with the thought that most people won't travel to Vegas without seats and you always have more sellers than buyers on day of show. I know one person who comes here every year and never pays more than $50 for a seat (usually getting a $200 seat for that price or less). It's a bad situation....thats why I always advise people never to get more tickets for this show than you absolutely know you need and never to get tickets for friends without payment in advance (that way if they cancel....its their money lost, not yours).

This may be true, but I just don't understand it. If ever there was a place I would go without a ticket, it's Vegas!! What's the worst that happens? You party with parrotheads all day and then don't get a ticket so you've gotta hang out at the casinos all night? yeah, bummer!dean_siu wrote:most people won't travel to Vegas without seats

I agree totally agree w/ Dean get your money from your friends first. The first year I went I picked up extra tickets for buddies who then couldn't make it. I think I paid about $85 a ticket and ended up selling them at the pre-party for $15. I figured it was another 30 bucks I had for beer that I wouldn't of had and it was a miracle ticket for someone who wanted to go the show.

And people wonder why
they can't get tickets to a concert when they go on sale........
On the plus side, if these people keep getting stuck with them then maybe they wiull only buy what they need?

Even Lying Dead on the Beach is Better than a Winter's Day in Illinois
and keep in mind, some of the people floating around are brokers that are trying to dump the rest of their inventory...they can afford to sell a 200 ticket for 20 since they made 1000 on a great floor seat...I have $65 seats and will be looking for a pair up close for a small amount to upgrade my seats...guess it will depend on how good the tables are Thursday and Friday...

jiggs I saw those guys with cell phones calling their co-horts at the other end of the forum to come over if they didn't have the tix that the fans wanted.jiggs(2) wrote:and keep in mind, some of the people floating around are brokers that are trying to dump the rest of their inventory...they can afford to sell a 200 ticket for 20 since they made 1000 on a great floor seat...I have $65 seats and will be looking for a pair up close for a small amount to upgrade my seats...guess it will depend on how good the tables are Thursday and Friday...
As a parrothead I just wanted to get the $$ back that I spent. Not trying to gouge a fellow phan.
oh well, lesson learned.
I have been to 20+ shows and never had this happen to me, it was weird that is all.
I'm not accusing anyone of trying to screw another phan from this board, but the scalpers are screwing the fans over once again by selling their tickets at a loss...this drives down the price others can get when they're just trying to get back their costs...Shumpy wrote:

I'd buy extra for every show for my friends except for Vegas and Thursday night Chicago, it just seems like a struggle to sell the tickets that you may get stuck with...
hope things work out for anyone holding tickets...there are going to be a ton of people in town this weekend for various events, maybe some of them will stammer over to the MGM to check out Buffett and buy up some remaining tickets

tix
Why are people buying more tickets than they need to go to a show? I keep reading that this person or that person is now stuck with extra tickets. Please buy only the tickets you need, so everyone else on ticket buying day has a chance to get good seats. I see alot of the time it is people not even close to the venue that has extra tix. Quit trying to make money and only buy what you need.

Re: tix
I AM SORRY BUT I DON'T AGREE. I BOUGHT THREE PAIRS. THE FIRST ONE I WAS IN THE MEZ. THEN I PULLED A BETTER PAIR SO I BOUGHT THEM. THEN I CHECK A FEW MINUTES LATTER AND I GOT VERY GOOD SEATS ON THE FLOOR. I USUALLY DO THAT WITH ALL THE SHOWS I GO TO. I AM TRYING TO GET THE BEST SEATS I CAN. AND IF I DIDN'T THIS TIME THEN I WOULD BE IN NOSE BLEED. I LOST 60 DOLLARS ON ONE PAIR, I GOT MY MONEY BACK ON THE OTHER ONES. JUST BECAUSE YOU BUY MORE THAN WHAT YOU NEED DOESN'T MEAN YOU ARE TRYING TO SCALP THEM. THERE ARE OTHER REASONS.coronacliff wrote:Why are people buying more tickets than they need to go to a show?
