How many got sick at the Flamingo?
Just curious to see how many of us actually got sick after the weekend. We need to get a list and send it into them. We didnt have a choice but take another room on Fri night, but I think the bug was still there on Sat.

We only ate at M-Ville as well, but dang have I been sick since then.buffettbride wrote:I didn't! Neither did BG! I think we drank enough to kill the bugs off.![]()
We also didn't spend a lot of time touching casino surfaces as we did not gamble while we were there (a feat in and of itself). Also, the only restaraunt we ate at was M-Ville so that might have made a difference.

The Mr & I both did, but he got it much worse than me. He ended up in the emergency room Tuesday night 10/19 (his birthday, too) as we got in at 10PM and the only place to go was there. We spent the whole night there. Luckily we both had the next day off from work!
It was too bad, because we had SUCH as great time in Vegas. Glad at least we didn't get sick until we left!
We have a call in to the Flamingo to let them know we were both sick.
We ate at Conrad's in the Flamingo the night before we left.

Of course I also had a flu shot a couple weeks before I left.

The phone number they gave us to call was 714-692-0175 which is in Calif for a company called Church & Company. I'm not sure what their role is, other than to possibly gather information as to when you got sick, and your name, etc.MA_Buffett_Fan23 wrote:Will you let me know who you speak to and the number to call..?? We gave them that.
But if we don't hear anything soon, we will be calling the Flamingo back!

Norovirus suspected in Flamingo cases
By Eric Leake
<eric.leake@lasvegassun.com>
LAS VEGAS SUN
A norovirus is suspected to be responsible for a outbreak of a flu-like illness at the Flamingo Las Vegas, said the Clark County Health District.
Jennifer Sizemore, spokeswoman for the district, added that tests verifying the norovirus are pending.
About 200 employees and guests of the hotel have reported norovirus symptoms -- including nausea, vomiting and diarrhea -- since last week, said Robert Stewart, a spokesman for Caesars Entertainment, which owns the property.
Stewart said the daily frequency of such reports is dramatically decreasing with fewer than 10 as of noon Monday.
"We're working very hard with the health department to do everything we can to make sure we continue to see a decline in the number of reported incidences," Stewart said. "We think what we're doing is working."
Sizemore said she has not heard of additional outbreaks at any other properties, although the health department continues to receive and investigate calls about illnesses at the Flamingo.
The source of the suspected virus has not been -- and may never be -- determined.
"Once it's there it can spread very easily, and you'll probably never determine exactly where it was introduced into the property," Sizemore said. "It can be very hard to completely get rid of it, to eliminate the source of the contamination."
Noroviruses may be spread through contact with contaminated surfaces, contact with other people with the virus and by consuming contaminated food or drink.
The Flamingo has posted signs notifying people of the cleanup effort and urging them to take care and wash their hands, Stewart said.
The casino and rooms of guests who reported symptoms are being deep cleaned. Food outlets remain open, though some have begun serving drinks in disposable plastic cups to reduce opportunity for spreading the illness.
The efforts are expensive, Stewart said, "But expense isn't the issue here. Ensuring the health and safety of our guests is the issue."
Employees and guests complaining of symptoms are being sent to Harmon Medical Center.
A norovirus outbreak at the California hotel in downtown Las Vegas in December 2003 lasted months and made about 1,700 people ill. The source of the virus was never determined.

Here is a link to a Clark County Health District press release. It has been confirmed that it is a norovirus and has a phone number to call to report illness. I don't think any of us got it, but based on the timeframes it could still hit.

I didn't get sick, but I think Jason (my boyfriend) did. We didn't stay at the Flamingo, but were there gambling nearly every day except Saturday. He wasn't puking, but he felt nausious. He had it coming out the other end for 24-hrs straight. We were blaming it on Harrah's buffet and figured it to be mild food poisoning. We got him some Immodium and even though that didn't instantly cure it, it may have helped the sickness from getting worse. It seemed to subside by midday yesterday and he feels normal now. As a precaution, I've been spraying everything here in the house with Lysol regularly since the virus can live up to 2 weeks on surfaces and a person can be contagious for an average of 2 days (sometimes longer).
It's a jungle out there kiddies... Have a very fruitful day.
