Tomorrow's Castor/Buffett Rally in Tampa

Post by YNONIN0 »

Hey all...it's been a long time since I've posted here. Things have been very busy! Anyway, two years ago Jimmy did a 3-song show in Tampa for Bill McBride, who was running for Governor in Florida. My brother and I got to the park before everyone else and waited it out, and we were up in front for the show. Here's the AP pic:

Well, tomorrow Jimmy is coming again -- this time for Betty Castor -- and we are going to be right up front yet again. We will give you a full report after the rally :)

Hope everyone is doing well! :)

Work/school vs. FREE Buffett show.

I'm taking the latter.

No, but if you do not work, you dont make money.

When you have 2 children, that sort of comes first. Making sure they have a roof over their head, food to eat. Can not supply that if you do not work.

Yeah, we go to school (I'm in law school, he's in HS). But let's just say we know how to prioritize. Here's a pic from where we were sitting:

Image

Tonight's show was tremendous. Smaller turnout than the McBride show 2 years ago, but still very good. It was nice to see some of the members of the Tampa Bay PHC, and as always it was nice to see the BALCONY GIRLS, an impressive duo (one of whom came from TN just for tonight). Jimmy said hi to them during the show.

Anyway, here's how it went. We got there before the stage folks got there at 12:30. We were the first ones there, which means that we looked WEIRD walking in the middle of downtown Tampa Buffetized. We felt legitimized when more people showed up.

People started showing up about 2:30. There was really not a huge crowd at the time it was supposed to start. We were in the front so we could see the tape on the stage by the microphone. One said 'Buffett'. Then, about 5:15, the sound guys came up and put another piece of tape down that said 'Stills'.

So they got there around 5:45. They did the intros, etc. Then Stephen Stills came up and sang a songThen Castor did her "vote for me" thing (she had to because the Tampa TV stations were going live to her). Then Bill Nelson introduced Jimmy.

Jimmy sang Changes in Latitudes, then he brought Stephen Stills back and they sang Southern Cross. Then Jimmy sang Margaritaville. Then they both sang Teach Your Children Well.

Jimmy was wearing shoes and looked visibly dazed at the beginning. It got better though. He was nice enough to sign autographs at the end. I got to shake his hand :) And we got an autograph and a guitar pick. Very nice night :)

Anyway, as promised, pictures are here: :)

Every good Parrothead knows Buffett shows come before work. Work is only to pay for our next concert fix and of course cocktails in the meantime.

:o WTF??? You do realize that this website is devoted to fans of JIMMY Buffett not Warren Buffett, don't you? I'm just asking because that comment shows some twisted priorities a bad attitude on your part, Baby! A person would have to be one uptight yuppie, with nothing on their minds but chasing that MBA and making money at whatever cost in order to put work ahead of a chance to shake the hand of The Man himself.

..thats why those of us who make lots of money sit in the first two or three rows ands not up in the rafters. there is a method to the madness, and supporting bad politics isn't really a good use of Jimmy time.

I hope this is tongue in cheek. But just in case it isn't.... hang on a second.... no need to jump down someone's throat because he feels he can't participate in a Buffett event because he needs his job to take care of his family. It suks bad enough to have to be adult enough to make tough choices and do what we really should do (go to work) instead of what we'd love to do (see Buffett). We who have had to make those tough choices lately sure don't need fellow parrotheads rubbing our noses in it and ridiculing us...... :-? :-? :-? Twisted priorities and a bad attitude? I think not...... :-?

No sweat with that at all!

But I have issues with folks who ridicule others for making tough life choices. (Not talking about all y'all who are obviously poking a little fun about priorities.... talking about the post that was over the top, IMHO, above....)
