I love the joke but disagree whole-heartedly with the notion.

The Pledge of Allegiance should be (must be) absolutely voluntary.
Otherwise it is devalued. What good is a compulsory pledge?

Why should the pledge be a prerequisite to obtain the free public education that the government requires each child be availed of. We do not require a pledge of allegiance before using the Post Office, or riding the bus, or voting.

Jeez, if you're allowed to squander your most important right by staying home on election day, how can you even conceive of making a pledge of allegiance mandatory for minor children in a public place?

I love yours and SELECT strict interpretations.
I am LMAFO at your justifications of and double standards.

Like I suggested/told you go back and read what the "Founding Fathers" of America" of America said....and how many times they mentioned God.

There is no State sponsored religion by simply saying God!
If you don't believe in him or her by whatever name is clearly, your right to do so at least in America... No one is being forced by the goverment to attend any Church or in goverment schools

I do HIGHLY agree with Tom about the guns!!!!!

No one has mentioned one similiar "Columbine: incident in any Catholic schools or any religious schools here in America.

So the claims of different eras, times,et al...being the cause....are nothing but bogus!

Even before the days of all thr "modern era" gun laws I don't know of one incident where a "Columbine" happened and children did have weapons and were taught to shoot and would go out hunting and bring supper or dinner or breakfast back.

So if it is not taking God out of school...perhaps it is all the stricter gun laws causing the incidents? But then again only in Goverment schools....

You need to read up on the history of Ireland and the treatment they recieved at the hands of the British.
If you are so worried about enslavement of blacks.perhaps you are doing something to help those black Africans that are being bought and sold in this day an age?

I am quite sure the pain and shame you feel for the past is greatly helping them out!

I don't believe your BS at all.

You claim it it is ok for goverment schools to make a place and allow Muslims to worship on school property during school hours, but refuse to allow any other students to pray, other than silently or allow the word God to be said on the same property.

Why can one religion have a special place and taxpayer funded area and not be considered Separation of Church and State .......but no one else can have their moment to God by whatever name they give or call him or her?
No one is preaching to anyone.......just one minute is all that was asked. No one forces anyone to pray or condone any particular diety and all they have to do is sit quietly ....

My comments stand about if you don't respect the country and Flag enough...then sit quietly. No one is trying to convert anyone!

And if you object to God and the word God , and feel so much guilt then send me all of your American currency!

ALL OF IT HAS "IN GOD WE TRUST"!

So I will save you from dealing with that problem!

My more pressing concern are the injustices in THIS country, the country I live in. That's not to say that I feel our problems are more or less significant than those in other countries, merely that I believe I can better affect change here than elsewhere.

No, I never said that - I actually said the opposite. If you want to play, please pay attention.

As long as it's not any representative of the government suggesting my child should recognize God, I don't care what individuals do.

Then let's have a minute for those who embrace Satan as their lord. Just a little statement pledging allegiance to Satan. The kids who believe and God can just sit quietly.

True, and I think that's stupid too... I don't trust in God and I don't think it should be on my money. But then, I rarely carry cash - I usually carry only my debit card.

I didn't mention it because I haven't heard or read about it. But even so, allowing children a place to practice their personal religion is different than a teacher or administrator endorsing one.

Allowing Muslim only students a place to worship is what the school (s) were doing!
That is discrimination!
It is als the state allowing an organised religion use of school property on school time, that is according to the ACLU in cases regarding Christians .......

I am quite sure if some terrible illness or accident or trauma happened to one of your loved and the doctor said it was out of his/her hands.... you would find it somewhere within you to pray and ask God, that you believe does not exist, to let/help your loved one live and heal them. God forbid that situation should ever happen to you and your family.
You may only do it silenty, but you will do it! Just as people in here ask for PHIN Power... that is a form of prayer believe it or not.

I have been there more than once! I know all too well about it!

Let me ask you a question: When athiest have really GREAT SEX with a partner( other than themselves )....... Who do they cry out to ??? plesae don't tell me your own name, I am being realistic here.

Then that would be the ACLU's opinion, not necessarly mine.

Why would I pray to something that doesn't exist? Are you going to pray to Satan in your times of need? Or maybe Santa Claus?

I didn't arrive at my beliefs out of convenience - I arrived at them after years of careful consideration and deliberation. I'm confident that my choice is right for me, and none of the trials I've endured over the last 18 months has convinced me otherwise.

I'm an atheist, an existentialist, an idealist and a firm believer in self-determination. It would take overwhelming evidence to the contrary to make me change my mind, not personal struggle.

When Christians have great sex, are they really crying out to god, or are they simply saying the lord's name in vain?

I always assumed it was the latter, but if they're really offering up praise to the lord as they climax, well, that's an interesting twist. It appears some of the women I've known over the years were far more religious than I ever knew.

Okies but it isn't me with the double standards.

No one is forcing religion on your child or anyone by the mention of God.
So please tell me aare you going to rewrite American History and the things the "Founding Fathers" spoke/wrote of?

How about : "We hold these truths to be self evident, that All Men are created equal and endowed with certain inalieanble Rights by their CREATOR......."?

How many successful "Columbine" type attaacks do I know of ? Well one quite similiar but maybe not as thouroughly dedicated to destruction was in Arkanas (?) I think it was..... I know of hmmmm at least 3 ( and am sure of quite a few others) other ones, that were supposedly being planned and someone found out somehow, and turned them in so they never happened...is that good enough?

Sam some people don't think of their Creator as God but rather Gods. I believe the intention of our forefathers was to have freedom to practice the religion of their own choosing. Even if that is devil worship.
