Iraqis running up and hugging our troops in mass and playing baseball for the first time is no delusion, it just doesn't make the 6 o'clock news cause death tolls and conspiracies get better ratings.
I guess different sides of the world get different perspectives and feed back.
No our news is the same. But thankfully I have friends who I correspond with who are serving in Iraq. That way I can get the truth.

Can we be so sure??? What happened to tolerating differences and not imposing our views on others?
Although, I'm sure I won't convince Troy, I used to think that being gay was a choice until I realized that one of my friends in college was gay. I watched the kid cry on many occasions asking why he was so screwed up and why he couldn't just be normal. A genetic defect, maybe. But it certainly isn't a choice they make, that I'm sure of.
 Now I'm worried - agreement is becoming a habit!!!

Isn't truth relative - we all see things how we want them to be.

Truth is relative to a point, sure. But I'll believe what the troops tell me over what Dan Rather tells me any day of the week.

Wait a minute... US?? Are you including Australia? Because I am pretty sure George W. Bush was just re-elected as the president of the U.S.A. Not the U.S.A. and Australia or various other countries.

So are you saying that you didn't mind when Saddam Hussein was practicing genocide on the citizens of Iraq? Call me crazy, but that's the most heinous form of aggression I can imagine. Is it not okay for the US to play a leadership role in liberating Iraq? But was it okay to take a leadership role in liberating the Balkans from Slobodan Milosevic when Bill Clinton was president?

I agree 100%...it's NOT a choice. I don't remember wondering at age 4 or 8 or 10 or 15 if I wanted to be homosexual or heterosexual. The torture and internal struggle that many gays live with is not because they choose to have a homosexual lifestyle, in my opinion, of course.

Unfortunately no... our news is not the same as international news reporting on the U.S. It's not quite as distorted as Al Jazeera, but the international news slanders the U.S. regularly.

But do your leaders not choose to willingly? George Bush does not go to Australia and force your troops onto ships and aircraft... obviously your leaders find some merit in liberating Iraq.

We do get different perspectives - our government likes the same news as your government - I guess that's why I try to get the news from other countries as well as ours.
