Hey Good Lookin' Finale

Post by Pascagoula Runner »

Alright, not to be negative but did Mr Chesney flub one of his lines in the song last night??? Outside of Jimmy, Alan, and Clint to an extent the song seemed uninspired to me. Maybe too many margaritas in the "green room" 8) :pirate:  .

It's a bit hypocritical for any Buffett fan to point out mistakes made by another performer during a live performance...think senior moment :D

I must admit I was proud of Bubba for keeping it together last night. He was soooo excited last year during 5 'O Clock that I thought he lost it a couple times. He was more of a fun loving statesman last night.

Well said. I felt the same way. would really have liked to see him win for "Event" but oh well. still enjoyed watching the finale.

To be honest, I thought it was an uninspired performance. I didn't feel any energy coming from most of the performers on stage.

(And Utley kinda looked like an Oompa Loompa lurking over Jackson's shoulder)

I can see Whiskey Lullaby having more merit for Video of the Year, but it didn't seem half the "event" that Hey Good Lookin was... Wish it would have gone to Jimmy and "friends".

As for the performance, let me know if anyone has a link to video of it - I had to watch Sipowitz have a heart to heart with Bobby's ghost... priorities!

Yeah, it seemed somewhat contrived, BUT

at least it was live! I didn't see the whole show (I too was relegated to the return of Bobbie on NYPD Blue), but saw plenty of other artists "Ashley Simpsoning" it (Shania Twain was one). That might have something to do with the "tone" that was apparent. I respect them for doing it live in that forum.

And yes, Michael Utley appears to be getting larger and larger (and more Oompa Loompa-like) every time I see him. . .and I just saw him in Chula Vista two weeks ago!

Kenny flubbed at least twice. But that's ok....he was excited. Jimmy in a brown shirt on stage...I can't wrap my brain around it. And remember: the camera adds 20 pounds, or, in mine and Mr. Utley's case, THIRTY POUNDS!!!

Best performance of the night...hands down was Paisley and Alison Krauss..that women made everybody's singing sound bad to me...and Martina over Alison for female vocalist of the year...give me a break!
I guess Martina ranks as a vocalist,Alison is a vocalist,musician...just a dayum good entertainer.

Exactly how I felt. It was totally boring and not at all like the Dallas version which I would have expected on national television! Jimmy seemed somewhat disinterested himself. It was stilted and seemed like no one had "practiced"!

I didn't care for the performance either. I was p*** off that I waited all night for "that" perofrmance. It looked like (to me) that they were all forced up there to sing together and didn't want to be around each other. Oh well, at least it was all of them together even if it wasn't the greatest.

Just my thoughts.

I couldn't help but wonder if they even rehearsed the song first. Everytime one of the guys jumped in they looked like they were suprised, Kenny missed a line and all of them looked like they were too busy trying to make sure they didn't miss their cue to have fun with the song.

BINGO! The monkeyboy hit the nail on the head. Plus, the stupid CBS people were probably rushing the heck out of them like they did Kenny. What a bunch of network LOSERS!

Shane, that was a keen observation and a concise, well thought out remark. Who did it for you?

Other than Jimmy and the Reefers, how many have played the song since they recorded it?

It looks like I'm in the minority here, but I enjoyed the performance. It was a nice change from some of the other acts on the show that were sub-par. Kenny and Toby didn't seem to be able to hang with the rest of the group. Toby looked like he was high. I'm not a big Clint Black fan, but he definately held his own with Buffett, Strait and Jackson.

Oh, and did anyone else notice that George Strait's backup singers were on stage during HGL?
