Gotta make a brag. One of my sons is a high school senior and captain of cross country and track teams. He's had a super good season. Qualified for states, and now Meet of Champions. He's worked so hard, had alot of injured seasons during high school and it's finally all coming together for him. He's running in Holmdel, NJ this weekend, a very tough course for beach kids not used to hills. So if you're thinking of it cross your fingers for him that he keeps his nerves in check, doesn't fall and has a really good race. College coaches are going to be watching him so it matters. Thanks guys. Sorry for brag interruption.

Ha ha ha. That's funny. My sons when they were like 6 had these wrestling buddy dolls that were more like pillows. Kind of kid sized too. They used to slam into each other with them. I think they took them to school once for show and tell.

Absolutely. If you have young kids enjoy it while you can. I have twin sons who are seniors, then they're done. So this is a year of lasts for me, and soon to be first for them. Saturday will be my son's last high school cross country race. He will be going to Footlocker Race in the Bronx the following week, then his hs xc years are done. I am thinking it will be very emotional for me. He mentioned this to me yesterday and I realized that it is hard on him too. Then we have winter and spring track. His running has been an important event in our family, and a bonding time for him and I. Lots of time spent in cars going to races and practiices., family going to cheer him on, helping with fundraisers every year, etc. He plans on running in college, but depending on where he chooses, and sometimes he's talking California, the races I will be at will be much less. If he chooses Maryland or Pa he will frequently have meets in our backyard that we can go to. I can already feel the empty nest twinges.

LOL. I was talking to a boy who goes to a school called Forest Hills. What do you think he and his teammates hear when they're out running practice?
