By no means did it offend me, but was it necessary for ABC to air that on Monday Night Football, probably not. I dont think something like this would scar a child for life but in the wake of the Janet Jackson it seems like bad timing. To ABC's credit, Desperate Housewives is getting tons of publicity because of all this which is what I am sure they intended in the first place. While watching the spot I wasnt offended but I was nonetheless suprised that they would air it. Also I had no idea that woman was from Desperate Housewives, I didnt even know what show they were cross promoting till the next day, I guess I am out of the loop

That sounds like a testimonial for their marketing campaign. That's exactly what they were going for.mexcooker12 wrote:Also I had no idea that woman was from Desperate Housewives, I didnt even know what show they were cross promoting till the next day, I guess I am out of the loop

I didn't realize my posting habits were subject to your judgement.... I post when I can and lately that's not very often.PHBeerman wrote:
Sorry let me clarify the question.
It seems you have only been coming around to chat when you want to b**** about some made up group of “morality police” among us. Yet, you believe that they have just as much right to lobby as the activist groups whose views better fit your own. Yet you keep bitching about them expressing their views. Why?
If you can't see that there's no contradiction in disagreeing with a group's point of view and yet understanding that they're entitled to have it then you're not nearly as smart as I thought you were.

Yep. But we are pretty conservative when it comes to the TV rules in our house. It wasn't an issue for us because the kids can't watch TV on school nights anyway.PHBeerman wrote:Less the conservative part.buffettbride wrote:wFPs.
I'd rather have her see that on TV than much of what is on the news every day. If Victoria were to see the MNF thing she woulda just said "Mommy, what that girl is doing is inappropriate" and it would be a done issue.
As for the racial thing, it didn't even occur to me until someone else pointed it out.

If you consider someone who goes to church about twice a year on average the religious right, I guess I am. If you consider the religious right a group that consists of people who believe that there are core moral values that should be protected, then hell yes I am a part of that.a1aara wrote:PHBeerman,
Are you part of the religous right? Are these the people that are mostly behind these "right wing morality groups"?

Then why would you want to live in a FREE society? The very nature of a free society means that you CANNOT protect those values.PHBeerman wrote: If you consider the religious right a group that consists of people who believe that there are core moral values that should be protected, then hell yes I am a part of that.

HUH????? you've been reading to much again. The very nature of a free society is choice, to chose to or not and there are many levels of choice from individual, family, group and so on.Key Lime Lee wrote:Then why would you want to live in a FREE society? The only people who are making this a race issue are the same people who probably blame everyone of the problems on race. This has nothing to do with race. Was it inappropriate for the spot that it was in? Maybe. Was it indecent? Hell No! Was it racist? Hell No! The reason that Owens was used was because if you ask everybody who is not from Philly or Dallas(or not a huge Philly or Dallas fan) to name 5 players from both teams the only 2 names that would be on every list is Owens and McNabb and Owens was the one who agreed to do it. Is it racist that the 2 most known players on both those teams are black? That just happens to be the way that it is. If anybody feels they need to lower themselves to use the race card than I have no respect for them at all.
