Yes, I saw what started the fight....a Clemson player (possibly Bobby Williamson, but I don't know for sure--I've heard different names mentioned) punched Syvelle Newton while he was down. I am not denying that South Carolina was equally to blame. However, after I saw the clips the game was rebroadcast and I watched it.

Sorry to get all up in arms about the whole thing. I just resent the fact that people sit here and say Clemson is "classless" and then try to connect the situation to Holtz's retirement when the two are not really related.

To make matters worse for me, I work at Clemson in the PR office, so I'm dealing with this ugly situation at work, too, as it has had a negative impact on our image, to say the least. So today hasn't been fun for me. So if I get a little overly defensive about it, that's why.

I generally try to avoid arguements here on BN, but you sorta hit a nerve here.

And yes, Beerman, I am eternally grateful that I am not going through this in the summer. I cannot imagine what it must be like to be pregnant when it is 98 degrees out with 99 percent humidity.

BTW--to get back on topic, press conference from both schools coming at 5 p.m., or so I've heard through the grapevine. Maybe we'll have some answers as to what is going to be done about this.
