Thanksgiving Message from Sunny Jim

Hello Sunseekers and E-Buddies!

Last night I drove home from Orlando after a week of work followed by a night of making music with two of my best friends for a room full of friends and the entire world via Radio Margaritaville. In the little hours of the morning I had Highway 41 to myself and my thoughts. The night was bright with a nearly full moon peeking through some wispy clouds, making the sky look like cotton candy. And I was struck by how many things I have to be thankful for every day and on this special day we call Thanksgiving.

I'm thankful that I have my health, my healthy children, my wife who supports me so much that I sometimes find myself believing in me simply because she does so so strongly.

I'm thankful that my Dad has been such a cool guy with so much joy in life that I caught it from him.

I'm thankful that I didn't get washed away in the hurricanes this year and that I hang out with people who responded to those in need, inspiring me to help in my limited way.

I'm very thankful that my Cayman friends survived a such terrible storm and are carrying on.

I'm thankful for the good fortune that brought Jimmy Buffett into our lives in Grand Cayman on his 50th birthday, opening this wonderful Parrot Head world to us. I gave my friend Amy Lee, saxophonist for Jimmy band, a ride to her parents house last night after Jimmy's hurricane benifit show in Orlando. Along the way we talked about the troubles in this world and how lucky we felt to be doing what we do. We agreed that life is what happens to us, and who we are is how we respond to what happens to us. So many people are fortunate and fail to see it, and so many are unfortunate and still rise above that to shine. I think the difference is attitude. It helps to count your blessings every day.

Today we stop to make the biggest counting, and share that with family and friends. We'll think of you all today as we sit together at the long table. Another one of my best friends once told me that life is a Splendid Adventure. I agree and I'm thankful to have you along with me.

I've met Sunny Jim on two occasions. He is a great guy and plays a lot of fun music (including "Blame it on the Rum" featured in The Firm w/ Tom Cruise).

No surprise the have such a bright outlook on Thanksgiving, as should we all!
