Wrigley Rumor????????
Moderator: SMLCHNG
Schooner-I think this would be the first ever-I don't recall any before this-there have been a few at Comiskey/US Cellular, and lots at Soldier Field but not Wrigley.
All the stations had the story on the news tonight though clearly the surrounding community would be an issue (as it was for Fenway). One story said it would be Labor Day Weekend!

I'm suprised Chicago fans can talk that much. It seems the whole organization choked quite a few months ago.captainjoe wrote:Ilph wrote:Wino you know wrote: the Cubs become world champs,![]()

Oh, thanks, that was fun.
I laughed just as hard when the Cards were swept by the Red Sox.
But Buffett at Wrigley would be amazing.

Chances are that the ballpark was there long before the folks doing the most bitching. If you live near a stadium, you have to expect it unless they just up and dropped the thing in overnight and said, "guess what..."Blind_Octopus wrote:I live here in Chicagoland and the Wrigly Company is definitely floating plans to have shows at the field. They do have a major hurdle to jump in convincing the neighborhood that it's a good thing. People are already upset about drunk kids taking a leak on their lawns. Imagine seeing a guy with a coconut bra and a parrot on his head whipping it out into your geraniums. The talk on the radio here is that Jimmy is VERY interested in being the first to play. He does have that significant tie to Chicago and Wrigly via Steve G. Hope it happens and I'll be one working the mojo to get 4 tickets, just don't want the obstucted views!

After seeing Jimmy at Fenway Park this year I told some of my friends that if the details could be worked out I thought he'd play Wrigley next year. He's a big baseball fan, he does 2 shows in Chicago every year and he looked like a kid on Christmas morning at Fenway. I'm ready to go back to Chicago.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

There is a sidebar story about ending the curse, and additional info at the end:
"Sources said the Cubs have not begun formal negotiations with Buffett, but he's definitely their top choice because, team officials believe, his crowds are a lot tamer than the hardcore fans who would be drawn to a rock concert."

Maybe he'll just swap out the "normal" chicago/GW weekends. I'm sure it depends more on the Cubs schedule than on anything else. I don't think GW-ers will moan too much as long as he comes back to GW SOME weekend next summer....iuparrothead wrote:Get ready for the Great Woods moaners and groaners... they're already talking about Buffett at Wrigley on Labor Day weekend.
(and we still have the damned golf down the street from GW on Labor Day weekend, so that may be a factor, too.....
