Schooner-I think this would be the first ever-I don't recall any before this-there have been a few at Comiskey/US Cellular, and lots at Soldier Field but not Wrigley.
All the stations had the story on the news tonight though clearly the surrounding community would be an issue (as it was for Fenway). One story said it would be Labor Day Weekend!
I am pretty sure Bruce Springsteen played Wrigley during the infamous Born In The USA tour during the summer of 1985. In fact there are several scenes in the Born To Run video where the Wrigley Field ivy is clearly visible. It would make sense since the Boss beat Jimmy to Fenway also!

Schooner-one of the papers said that this would be the first "on its own" concert at Wrigley Field. I was at the Born in the USA Springsteen tour in '85 (at least I think that was the one I was at-that seems right!) and it was at Soldier Field with no reserved seating.
Because I have no life I have been researching the subject and a couple websites show that Springsteen played neither Wrigley or Soldier Field on the Born in the USA tour, so this may be the first concert at Wrigley. I am trying to get a definitive answer, rather than you know working.

They do have a major hurdle to jump in convincing the neighborhood that it's a good thing. People are already upset about drunk kids taking a leak on their lawns. Imagine seeing a guy with a coconut bra and a parrot on his head whipping it out into your geraniums. The talk on the radio here is that Jimmy is VERY interested in being the first to play. He does have that significant tie to Chicago and Wrigly via Steve G. Hope it happens and I'll be one working the mojo to get 4 tickets, just don't want the obstucted views!
I completely agrree.....but it gets old when you have ten people p*** in your front stoop...a friend of mine had an aprtment on Waveland...used to have a bunch of us over..figure out how creative we could get with the overserved...my favorite was water balloons filled with jello...before it became jello...you know how sticky that is.......

Based on stage configuartion...I'm guessing the rooftops wouldn't be a good spot.....unless you want to look at the back of the riggingRon Raney wrote:Jimmy spent years at Belmont and shefield, at the Quiet night. Don't feel bad.....I have plenty of useless time also...this is from greasylake.org a Bruce fansite...funny you mentioned Bruce playing at the Ballpark.that's where Jimmy got the idea for Fenway...after seeing Bruce & the E street Band there in 2003.....I saw Bruce at Comiskey, Miller Park and Comerica Park on his "Baseball Tour"

For all of you who are familiar with Wrigley........if this goes off...I'm assuming the stage will be in the outfield..like Fenway and like Springsteen did when he played baseball parks....I can't wait to see the rooftop owners "sell" their deck for this.....unfortunately they will probably get some people to pay up to look at the back of the stage.

I am obviously going blind since the site I checked clearly has it down as playing at Soldier Field. I think I missed because it was the show right before he rocked the show I saw at Three Rivers Stadium. I am going to plug in the Born To Run video in aminute, but there is clearly shots where there is IVy on the walls in the background. Judging from the comments here, I mist assume it isn't Wirgley, but that is what I had always assumed it was.
