Wrigleyville, meet Margaritaville. The Chicago Cubs want to hold rock concerts at Wrigley Field, possibly as soon as next season. The right act could be aging singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett, who, according to two people familiar with the matter, would likely be the first musician to play Wrigley.

Could Buffett put an end to the curse?

After all, more than a few Boston Red Sox fans are convinced two sold-out Buffett concerts at Fenway Park earlier this summer did the trick -- exorcising those baseball demons that had kept Beantown's perennial losers from snaring a World Series championship since 1918.

During a television satellite interview Monday promoting his new novel A Salty Piece of Land, the laid-back crooner told WBBM-Channel 2 morning news anchor Randy Salerno he and his band would ''absolutely love to'' work the same magic for the Cubs.

Missed JB last year because of the Fenway shows stealing his annual Labor Day visit to Great Woods, now he wants to do Wrigley next Labor Day? Hopefully he'll schedule Great Woods sometime in the late summer. Hate to miss 2 years in a row, but if it helped the Red Sox win a Championship, then it was worth it (maybe).

I HEARD JIMMY WAS GOING TO DO A STADIUM TOUR NEXT YEAR... I HOPE THAT'S NOT ENTIRELY TRUE.. you loose something in a big venue.. what is it? INTIMACY!
