admitting to sacrilage(sp?)
I'm going to admit it here on these boards where nobody knows me. I like Big and Rich. I get a kick out of watching them play. I liked Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy and like Holy Water even more. It's a chick thing but I can identify with the song. Any other heathens on here?

i like all country music, both new and classic . . . .they are two totally separate genres as far as i'm concerned, but i guess a lot of country purists have trouble accepting that. I think what Big & Rich are doing to country music is good because it puts a lot of excitement into a genre that can often be lacking excitement (on and off stage, with certain exceptions who put on VERY high energy shows such as Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, etc.), and also its "country music without prejudice" which in my opinion is really cool, i know its brought a lot of people who don't like country into liking it and exploring it.OceanCityGirl wrote:Me too. But there've been a couple threads on here about them. Mostly country music purists who really hate them. I like older so called classic country music, but there are alot of entrenched country stars who were once considered evil and not true country.

I remember when it was country-western....DsilCaribe wrote:i hate that phrase or cliche, "true country", because what in the world is true country?? i really don't think there is such a thing as "true country" or true any-type-of-genre because each genre was influenced and shaped by other genres.OceanCityGirl wrote:true country.
I like some country and some western!!!
But I do like Big and Rich from what I've seen.

yeah i agree with all thatOceanCityGirl wrote:I like the music, but I also like the whole spectacle of the midget, the shirtless guy, the clothes, etc. They seem to be having a good time and don't really care what you think of their music. And in the end even Holy Water without all the bells and whistles of cowboy is good.

That's because most country artists today aren't fit to hold Hank Williams Sr.'s whiskey flask. They might have made decent sidemen and backup singers 20 years ago, but it's all about niche marketing and eye candy (and lip-synching to computer-repaired music because the good-looking, saleable acts couldn't hit a note with a stick on their own...)OceanCityGirl wrote:Me too. I like them!!!! They're fun, they make me smile and IMHO they are bringing a new audience to C&W. In a recient interview I heard them talk about seeing a guy all tated out with spiked hair and piercings in the audience singing along with all their songs........
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.
