I don't blame Steinbrenner. I blame Bud Selig.RAGTOP wrote:As much as I despise the Yankees ( and I can't stress despise enough) George is playing by the rules that MLB set up. Can't really blame him.

Beltran has until the end of the week to sign with Houston, or he CAN'T resign with them until May 1st. Time to get it done, Houston!iuparrothead wrote:So now it looks like the Yankees aren't going to try for Beltran,

which is very cool, but that means he's most likely to end up with the Mets or back with the Astros.
Which doesn't leave the Cubs with a lot of options and that waste is still probably going to be in right field.

Although Rice was a dominant player in his era, he is being hurt by the current "home run happy" era, which makes his numbers pale in comparison. His numbers are very average next to a lot of todays players, and people forget how great he was.parrothead338 wrote:LET JIM RICE IN THE HALL![]()

That's what held his induction up at first. Now its the inflated numbers everyone puts up.RAGTOP wrote:plus his relationship with the media back then wasn't the greatest![]()
LOOK AT HIS NUMBERS AND COMPARE THEM TO TONY PEREZ.ALSO LOOK AT LUIS TIANT AND CATFISH HUNTERS NUMBERSCaptainP wrote:Although Rice was a dominant player in his era, he is being hurt by the current "home run happy" era, which makes his numbers pale in comparison. No need to yell. I'm not saying he doesn't belong, I think he does. I'm trying to explain why he isn't. Borderline guys can't afford to have bad relations with the media, and he did. Now his numbers don't look as good as they were, because we are in an era of inflated offensive numbers.tequilatom wrote:LOOK AT HIS NUMBERS AND COMPARE THEM TO TONY PEREZ.ALSO LOOK AT LUIS TIANT AND CATFISH HUNTERS NUMBERSCaptainP wrote:Although Rice was a dominant player in his era, he is being hurt by the current "home run happy" era, which makes his numbers pale in comparison. Met sources: 'We got Beltran'
Two separate sources within the Mets organization are telling New York Fan Sites that the team and prized free agent Carlos Beltran has reached agreement on a seven-year, $112 million contract to bring the All-Star to Flushing. The team would not confirm this report!

You'd think it'd be called a "Classic". It IS the 4th oldest stadium in baseball!!!! 44 years old, only Yankee, Wrigley, and Fenway are older.RAGTOP wrote:I can't imagine anyone wanting to play 81 games a year at Shea. It's a disgrace to baseball.
David Wells is going to Boston After his comments about Fenway.I guess anything is possible. The Capt'n is right(small town guy) it will come down to MONEY,MONEY,MONEY.I think he goes to Houston. My question is do the players have any say on where they want to play?or do the agents have that much control and the final say.RAGTOP wrote:I can't imagine anyone wanting to play 81 games a year at Shea.
