Anyone here use Priceline.com for hotels? I am looking for a hotel in NYC and I thought about using this. Any comments?

Its decent, Ive never had muxh luck with expedia or those other sites. What sucks about Priceline is you are stuck if they accept your price, so pick a high rated place and low ball them and you might get lucky.

I used Priceline quite a few times for hotels here in Chicago before I moved here and I got some great deals. I've used it for rental cars before too and I've gotten great rates. I would totally suggest it for getting a hotel room in NYC!!!

I must say that I would check the rates on other sites like Sidestep or some of the other ones and then knock 35% to 50% off their lowest rate for the category of hotel that you want to stay in. Do be aware that if you purchase a hotel through them you can't cancel and get a refund or in many cases, change the dates.

Why would you want Bill Shatner in your room? <<shudder>>

I uesd it last year for my Denver trip... Great prices like
30$ a Night for a 3 star.. this year I went right to them and
no bites at even 50$ for the same area and Expedia hooked me up
moral of the story.. Check your prices.. Sometimes you can go right to
the Hotel and geet Hooked up... I did also this year..
Also Ask Dally about those sites and customer service.

Orbitz cancelled and refunded my plane ticket WITHOUT me telling them to do that. When I asked them to rebook my flight they told me there was no way they could do that due to all flights being full! Then they refused to let me speak to the person in charge!

I have used hotes.com for ur rooms. When I find one that I like, I will check the hotels website, and check their prices against what hotel.com is telling me. Have saved a few bucks.

checkout Kayak.com - they query expedia, hotel.com, orbitz, etc. & give the best of the bunch.

Used it for airfare, never hotels, but it kicked butt over doing all the checks yourself.

I don't trust orbitz either... I honestly believe that because they're owned by the airlines, they're more willing to move you, change you, or do whatever at their pleasure.

Used them for key west two years ago... booked a 3pm return flight and then, a week before, they changed my flight to 8am.

Then when we arrived at the 8am flight, they had cancelled our reservation. I still had a ticket, but they had to move us to another plane. That, of course, resulted in the appearance of purchasing a one-way plane ticket 10 minutes before take off, which is an automatic "spread your s*** out on the tarmac and let us search you".

NEVER had those kinds of problems with Travelocity or Expedia... just Orbitz.
