Chely Wright Dismisses Fan Club President

From CMT.com

Chely Wright has dismissed the president of her fan club after a reporter for a Nashville newspaper questioned her about a group of fans' methods of seeking increased radio airplay for her current single, "Bumper of My SUV." Wright secured the resignation of Chuck Walter, an unpaid volunteer based in New York, and shut down all activities of a 17-member volunteer street team who allegedly posed as veterans or family of military personnel in requesting the song at radio stations throughout the nation via phone calls and e-mails. Wright says she was inspired to write the patriotic song when a driver saw the U.S. Marines bumper sticker on her vehicle and responded with an obscene gesture. Noting that she was unaware of the promotional tactics, Wright said, "I, in no way, condone or endorse the actions of my fan club president." She added, "I wish to apologize on behalf of my organization and any representative of my organization that may have engaged in any activity that could be construed as unethical." The Tennessean newspaper ran the allegations in a 2,600-word story on the front page of its Sunday (Dec. 19) edition.

Thank you Toby Keith.. thank you SGH.. thank you SAM, thank you everyone that helped keep America FREE!!!!! Freedom comes with a price that some are not willing to give and will give any lame ass excuse as to why they shouldn't.

No, Thank you Rick! It makes a usually thankless, but NECCESSARY job that pays little for so much of a demanding sacrifice and so many sacrifices, and knowing that what you are doing is making a difference and while ready to kill or die...it is not about money. People like you make it WORTH IT!!!

It is about people! It is about Duty and Love of Country and Honor! It is a priveledge to serve, not a Right! Maybe it sounds corny to some, but paying a debt to your Country, that while so many find so much fault with, being part of keeping the greatest country in the world FREE, so they have the choice to make! I challenge anyone to pick a better country. My father and all of my brothers served.
Thank You Rick!

People that can thank us or people that want to call us "Baby Killers" or anything or any name they so choose. People that protest us and our job.
People that protest nuclear or other weapons at bases. People that claim the military budget is overblown and needs to be cutback to bare bones minimum or people that claim it is not neccessary to spend X amount on the top of the line weapons system (remember every Soldier, Airman, Marine, Sailor IS THE WEAPONS SYSTEM! Without them and the support personnel...the rest is useless!) Every part of every weapon including ships and planes and beans and bombs and bullets are built by the lowest bidder!

People that want to burn the symbol that represents us and what we are serving for. People that went to Iraq to become human shields. I could go on,... but why bother? We served and sacrificed for all of them! We took an Oath...perhaps to some....taking such an Oath and making and willingly make such sacrifices means nothing.

Maybe not everyone serves for ideals of Country or thinking that it is the Right thing to do...maybe they do go for education...( BIG JOKE..ever hear of VEAP? I could have donated $75.00 for three years, and got 2-4-1 matching funds for a grand total of somewhere over $8,000) this was before the current Montgomery G.I. Bill. I did get experience...and I was part of something.

The Price of Freedom has ALWAYS BEEN HIGH. There are those who are willing to pay the price and and back up the check to pay it.....just as those who are willing to ride the coatails and enjoy their Free Ride of the sweat and blood and sacrifices of those who do serve and those who WOULD NOT serve.

As a vet, I don't look down on those who did not serve for medical or physical reasons nor anyone else that could not serve. There are those that refuse to serve and there is a difference in the two. Then there are those claim "I will serve if I am needed...." That is another difference. Clearly their choice to make, becaause of those WHO DID serve.

HOWSOEVER..I do disdain those that never served and have no idea or clue about the military, and act like or talk like they know, and the "I heard from a friend of a friend of a friend whose uncle's third cousin twice removed served...." or some equally lame BS try to tell me what happened and what is/ was happening.

JB himself said ".....don't try to describe the ocean if you never seen it......" ALOT to be learned from that.

I have not heard of this song nor have any idea of who she is, but I plan on accquiring it very soon. Just as those "hippies" that supported the Dixie chicks for their insulting comments they made in another country.

I do agree we need more Patriotic songs and not enough are out there.
I did not ask anyone "Hippie", Liberal, Democrat, Republican, Socialist, Athiest, Catholic, Agnostic, Protestant, or whatever anything else they might be, about serving. No one really cares about that when they serve. We served. We were ready, we sacrificed, 24/7/365. We did not always have hot showers. ( ever wash your whole body in half of a canteen cup of water?) We did not have heat or Central A/C in the field or always in the barracks. We did not get overtime pay. We did not always have a hotmeal...sometimes to heat the meal we put it inside our tops and next to our bodies and let the heat of our bodies warm it. We had what we carried on our backs and our LBEs. That was all we had.Nothing more and nothing less! We were ready to go wherever, leave home, and friends and family behind, never knowing if you would come back or when.

Thank God Men and Women are still willing to do so. I dread the alternative if they were not!

I love Toby Keith's and other "modern" Patriotic songs. So what if they make money off of those songs? They are professionals and that is what they get paid for!
It is recognition and pride that one feels when hearing those songs.

Would you still dislike those songs if a percentage of the proceeds or all of the proceeds went to a charity or a fund to help pay families go see wounded family members or a college fund for the children of disabled or vets KIA? Would you complain if JB did a patriotic song?

As for what the Fan Club leader did...I find it dispicable and low...just like some people calling and claiming to be or sounding like they represent police or fire or military or oher charities and have no relationship with them.

They should all be forced to serve in some actual capacity to actually work for those charities and see them upclose and first hand...if they refuse...... use them for medical research and organ donors or shoot them!

Remember:

Those who long for Peace, must be prepared for war!

And

No one wants Peace more than the people whose life, limbs, and blood are actually on the line and at risk, being shot at, or kill or be killed, and are in the mud and crud, cold and wet and heat and numerous other hazzards.

You say you want Peace? What are you doing or have you done to keep and earn Peace and Protect Freedom and Our Country?

Carry on Devil Dawgs, Swabbies, Airmen, and Troops !!!! Semper Fi!
May God Bless you and allow you to carry out your mission(s) successfully and bring you home safely and intact to your friends and family.

Remember guys it is always the Dumb $#!+ that gets you and to cover you and your buddies Six! The life you save just might be more than your own!
