My first BUFFETT experience

Post by boomerangKane »

I'm still kinda new to this whole thing...and i wanted to tell everybody about when i first fell in love with Mr. Buffett.
WAAAAAAAAAAY back in '98, i attended my first Buffett concert. I was 10. My uncle got sick, and my older sisters werent really interested in going to see jimmy...so i was next in line. When asked, i have to admit, i was a little apprehensive. Afterall i had only just heard about this guy. But my aunts and uncles assured me it would be a good time. So we were on our way. I sat right on the end...and could see the stage beautifully (Until the fin came out). I remember the t-shirts being launched by the guys on stilts and the drunk couple in front of us, I also remember being yelled at by the ushers to move back into our row...but hey i couldnt see over the giant shark fin in front of me. I especially remember the first time i was taught about "fins"...It then became my favorite part of the whole evening...OOh and i remember my uncle covering my ears in the middle of "Why dont we get drunk?" From then I've been a dedicated Phan of JB and i attended a concert the following year...sadly to say it was my final Jimmy Buffett concert to come...But i remember that one just as well...Hopefully...there will be many many more concerts to come :D :wench:

My presence at the Chicago show last year is proof of that. I found out 4 days before the show that I didn't have to work. Within 24 hours, I had PAVILLION seats in hand, and a room in the hotel across the way.

Oh yeah, and 30 or so new friends to meet....

My first Buffett experience was at a bar near Loyola University in Chicago, my senior year of High School. (Nov. 1974) A buddy who had graduated the year before was going there and took us to this joint he knew we could get in.

We were drinking and playing pool and when my friend came running from the room with the juke box screaming "Billy, they've got it, they've got it, its the song about f*%&ing. We played WDWGDAS so many times the bartender finally said, "If you play that one more time I'm going to throw your under age a$$es right out of here"

First concert was Poplar Creek (RIP) in 78 or 79. Under the influence I tried to give my friend a high (literally) five and decked my girlfriend.

I wouldn't have been at Chicago this year if it weren't for my spotting JoAnn's Tiki Bar off of Harlem Avenue :D
