There is a town in SC that has a chitlins festival every year, andragtopW wrote:If prepared right Chitlins are great, but If not done right you can get VERY sick...
You DO NOT want to know what they taste like.....BahamaBreeze wrote:There is a town in SC that has a chitlins festival every year, andragtopW wrote:If prepared right Chitlins are great, but If not done right you can get VERY sick...
TONS of people come from all around.
I just find it hard to believe that people love
pig intestines. What do they taste like? The fat of bacon?
Had 'em once. That's ALL I ever want to. Smells bad. Tastes worse.BahamaBreeze wrote:There is a town in SC that has a chitlins festival every year, andragtopW wrote:If prepared right Chitlins are great, but If not done right you can get VERY sick...

Greens are all part of the same family, but collards, mustards and turnips each have different flavors.ragtopW wrote:OK OK my California Boy roots are gonna show here
The question is are Collard greens the same thing as Mustard
greens???
Interesting description. Would this be heavenly?citcat wrote:My husband says that chitlins taste like a burial vault.

Mustard greens are generally a little spicy, tangy or even hot. Collards are mild and have a slight cabbage taste. Turnip greens are sweet if picked when the leaves are small.
But I count cabbage as a "green" on new years.
Maybe that is why I don't get rich every year.
Not really, but I'm ignoring it.BahamaBreeze wrote:Thats no way to start out the New Year.CaptainP wrote:I was sick yesterday (NOT A HANGOVER!!!), and didn't end up eating anything all day.![]()

Tradition in my family? Herring. Gag.And I love sardines and anchovies. I just can't stand herring. But my grandfather would swear by it.
Sounds like Granny on the Beverly Hillbillies! But I bet it's delicious!fruityparrothead wrote:We had hog jowl, black-eyed peas, collard greens...plus other yummy dishes....
