I have to spend the night with my mother . . . so I'll be retiring early to my guest room. . . to read more KEY WEIRD.

I'm really liking it.

I hope you got it all done, ETP (how nice of you to take such good care of your Mom!).

I finished KEY WEIRD last night and thought it was a delightful read - I sure hope we haven't seen the end of Taco Bob!

I hope to finish it tonight. And good luck on Mom's list, Terry.

The day started at 5:30 this morning and I JUST got home.

Am taking KEY WEIRD to bed with me. Maybe I can get a couple of SENTENCES read before my eyes give up.

It's a very funy book. Again, I believe a steady-as-she-goes editor could have helped out in some places. Alas. I believe good, solid editing is a dying art.

What are we reading NEXT????

I'm still trying to get Key Weird. Neither of our bookstores in town have it and the Library doesn't either. :( I may have to resort to on line. And I will be wayyyyy behind everyone....

Thanks conched for the info above. I just ordered it!

same here, nutmeg - I couldn't find it at the bookstores or library so ended up ordering it and was glad I did - I really enjoyed it - hope you will, too!

What ARE we reading next? I bought Blue Lonesome. I also have The Secret Life of Bees.

(Don't tell anyone, but I still have to read Bridge of Birds.)

If you have not read A Parting Gift by Ben Erickson, I recommend it.

Okay.

I just ordered A PARTING GIFT through BNews' amazon.com link. It sounds awesome.

I've read Blue Lonesome and Secret Life of Bees and can discuss them anytime we're ready.

I'm loving KEY WEIRD. Still believe an experienced editor could have made it even better, but I'm digging it.

Have ya'll heard of TALK BEFORE SLEEP? One of my favorite "chick lit" reads. If you've ever had a best/forever friend who's been seriously ill/passed on, you might like this.

Elizabeth Berg is the author. She's also written some more of my favorites: OPEN HOUSE - - NEVER CHANGE --- and RANGE OF MOTION.

Is there a convenient TIME for everyone to meet (not meat) here to "talk amongst ourselves" about what we're reading?

A Parting Gift sounds like a winner so I am going to order it.

I will definitely finish Key Weird tonight, if I can stay awake

I am so glad I checked out the BN book club thread weeks ago because now I have enough good titles on my "To Read" list to last me the rest of my life! I have now added A PARTING GIFT, BLUE LONESOME, and TALK BEFORE SLEEP.

I'm home most evenings to enjoy literary chatter, but I am leaving next week for a BIG trip so will probably miss the next couple selections. I will hope to catch up when I get back.

BTW, & on the subject of KEY WEIRD, I actually saw a banner ad for a "lucid dreaming" book on another website. I (briefly) checked out www.lucidity.com and there's a whole world of this stuff - either Taco Bob is on the cutting edge or I'm way behind it (more likely  )

I so need to check out this website. I've been LUCID DREAMING (or something like it) for years.

We all have such hectic schedules I know it's going to be hard to get together, but let's try. It makes the discussions/posts so much more entertaining.

If I win the lottery, it could happen.

Fell asleep reading KEY WEIRD last night. It's funny, but I was tired.

Can't wait to hear what everyone thinks about it.

Can't believe Jen missed that post!

Usually you mention Hawaii and she pops up out of nowhere!

We've PM'd about it, Nancy.

I'm going to order one of the books from that link. Just not until city elections are over!

Then, I'll have my life back . . . and even MORE time to read. :D

I'm reading Key Weird until I finish tonight, unless I have one more beer :)

Is it a peculiar writing style to write in first person for Taco Bob character (chapters) and then in third person for other chapters?

It's probably not unique, but it is pretty noticeable in this book?
