Awww, thanks, SGH. I hope you're right.

This isn't a good year for us as far as grandmothers go. We found out over Thanksgiving that my husband's grandmother has colon cancer and the prognosis is not good.

SGH is right - she'll know........just be sure to take pictures. One of the pictures that I treasure the most is my oldest grandkeet being held by his 90 something year old great great grandmother!!!

Sending phin power towards your grandmother and you too!!!!!

:( :( Having a baby is an amazing thing. I bet she will know who he is. When my mom suffered cardiac arrest and was in a drug-induced coma for several days, when she first woke up I was the first one she saw and she immediately reached for my belly and asked how the baby was doing. It was the only thing she could coherently talk about for several weeks.

I'm convinced that the birth of my daugther is why she is alive today!

Hang in there CU!

Later yesterday we found out from the doctors that the stroke was worse than they initially thought. While it didn't physically paralyze her or anything like that, mentally she'll never be the same again. She's just in a very confused state right now and probably won't come out of it. :(

I hope she's around long enough to see the baby in March, but if she is, she may not even realize he's her great-grandson.
She will. My wife's grandmother is 96 and has had about 50 little strokes. She is not all there mentally but she remembers my boys.

Well, I have an unfortunate update. My grandmother died this morning.

It's for the best.....she was having way more complications from the stroke than they originally predicted. She had lost the ability to swallow and was going to be put on a feeding tube. She was in a lot of pain and not very coherent. So she's in a better place now, and that is a relief for our family.

But please send continued phin power our way--especially for my dad, as it was his mother. I'm heading down tomorrow morning to be with the family for a few days, so I won't be posting here for a little while. Please keep us in your thoughts.

Oh, CU, I'm so sorry to hear this news....

It sounds like she's definitely in a better place, but that doesn't take away the sadness for all of you. :(

Your whole family is in my thoughts and prayers. Gentle hugs.

Yes. It probably was for her. Doesn't make things any easier for you and your family. Especially your father. :( I'm so very sorry to hear this news, but it's good she's no longer suffering.

CU,

Sorry to hear of your loss. Just remember that your grandmother will be watching over your son and smiling down on him from heaven.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for me and my family. Everything with the funeral went well, and my dad seems to be holding up OK. It was nice to see all the family, but it is a shame that we only seem to get together under these kinds of circumstances.
