February 22nd is World Thinking Day for Girl Scouts and Girl Guides worldwide, with the theme being food. To celebrate, in our service unit, each Troop has to pick a country and set up a 6' display for a World's Fair, and my 1st Graders picked Australia. Among other things, they recommend trying to serve a small sample of native food to visitors of your booth - potentially 500 girls!!
Our biggest hinderance is a low budget... we are 1st year Brownies, and money from January cookie sales won't be in hand until April, so virtually everything will be out of pocket. Any ideas for Aussie Tucker?
Simple, and not too messy would be preferred. I'd order TimTams, but I'd need a bunch of them, and they're not cheap. What about Vegemite? It sounds icky - do kids really like it? And what about recipes?
I've seen Anzac biscuits, coconut ice, and chocolate crackles... what is dessicated coconut, and what is copha? Do you sit on it?
Thanks!
