I heard that when you start "Who's Going to...." threads before the actual concert date is announced, that it jinxs the whole tour date process and you don't get a show at all.

As I've said before.....I'm going to a Buffett celebration this summer, concert, or not! If there's no Alpine show, I'll be creating my own party this summer to celebrate all things holy and that which we call "Buffett".
So to expand on your statement..... it'll be what it is, and what we make of it. So There!
......... I know, my kids don't buy that line either!

When?
Where?
Or are you starting yet another sub-plot of guessing and speculation?

If Buffett is playing Wrigley Labor Day Weekend, He normally plays Alpine on the opposite end of the Calander which would mean early to mid June.
Look at the past concert dates and figure it out.
My 2 Cents
I'm betting June 18th or 25th

For those who recall CaptainP's survey from last year's thread (that's locked), the results were:
WHAT WILL BE THE DATE OF THE ALPINE VALLEY SHOW IN 2005?
Sometime in April=Sirgumby77
June 4=
June 11=
June 18=
June 25=CaptainP, BuckeyeboyParrothead, Cribiansol
July 2=Tiki Bar,
July 9=iuparrothead, pooj, BeachBum29, Finsupnorth, LesPhoto
July 16=opharbour, HSUParrothead, PlayaHombre, WI daydreamer, Cheese
July 23=IALeftPHin, BigHatCarmen, FourPlay
July 30=CoconutBra, jkortum, Phat Matt,
August 6=SCSUParrotHead
August 13=Lupy
August 20=Coopster1
August 27=MyHeadHurts
I'll still stick with my July 9th guess, since anything appears to be possible yet at this point.

Aye, Aye Captain! Congrats on the job! Keep us posted on the official start. I find my way down to the Milwaukee area once in a while. Maybe I'll drop by.

Where'd you hear that? Latest news/rumors is that Ozzfest is at Alpine on that date and that Jimmy may not even play Alpine this year. It's all a pile of speculation until it is official, or at least confirmed by a reliable source, so don't make concrete plans yet.

Here is what I got back from my sister via email(this guy she is friends with is one of those "knows all the cool stuff/has all the cool connections" guys...
I believe his info probably came from his friend at Frank Productions who
does all the concerts at the Kohl Center and Coliseum (not sure if he does
Alpine). Last year Dave was right on the money about the date before it was
announced so I feel pretty confident in checking on buses for that date.
There would have had to have been a major problem negotiating with the venue
for him not to play Alpine. That seems very improbable.
BUT like you said..this is all speculation....let's hope he is right again!!! A summer without buffett at Alpine??? ugh..I may be forced to go to Wrigley then...JUST NOT THE SAME!!! tailgating? lack of parking? I live in Chicago now..originally from Madison..I LOVE the Cubs but hate dealing with the traffic down there! On the other hand, maybe I will pick some other fun place to go see him!!! Good ole roadtrip!
Guess we'll keep waiting to hear a confirmation either way.
Fingers crossed.

Amy
if you go back through this thread you'll see postings from Brian who is the security manager at Alpine Valley concerning the shows at Alpine. They are a good read and let us know Jimmy's intention this year.

A couple things to keep in mind... with regards to previous years and the typical predictability of the Alpine concert date... I will repeat... this is a very different and unconventional year & tour schedule. I don't think you can accurately use previous years as a gauge for when JB's management will schedule ANY tour dates, including Alpine. And unless your "source" is within JB's management or the tour scheduling office at Alpine Valley, then they're not a reliable enough of a source to make any kind of prediction or legitimate speculation.
