Woo-hoo-hoo

Woo-hoo-hoo

Debbie just hit the wall
She never had it all
One Prozac a day
Husbands a CPA
Her dreams went out the door
When she turned twenty four
Only been with one man
What happen to her plan?

She was gonna be an actress
She was gonna be a star
She was gonna shake her ass
On the hood of White Snake's car
Her yellow SUV, is now the enemy
Looks at her average life
And nothing, has been, alright

Since Bruce Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2, and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids, in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
But she still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

Woo-hoo-hoo

1985

Woo-hoo-hoo

She's seen all the classics
She knows every line
Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink
Even Saint Elmo's Fire
She rocked out to wham
Not a big Limp Biscuit fan
Thought she'd get a hand
On a member of Duran Duran

Where's the mini-skirt made of snake skin
And who's the other guy singing in Van Halen
When did reality, become T.V.
What ever happen to sitcoms, game shows

On the radio was

Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2, and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids, in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
But she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

Woo-hoo-hoo

She hates time, make it stop
When did Motley Crue become classic rock?
And when did Ozzy become an actor?
Please make this stop!
Stop!
Stop!

And bring back

Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2, and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids, in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
But she's still preoccupied
With 1985

Ferris Buelers Day Off, Breakfast Club...
I watched those but I was not really a huge fan of most of the typical 80s teen movies, I liked Ridgemont High, Heathers, Rivers Edge, the Back to the Future series, Remo Williams and Return of the Jedi. Refresh your memory, visit the Fast Rewind site here:

if Eddie Van Halen had "80s hair" I guess I qualify but it was only for a very short time.

I grew up in NC, people here were huffin' gas.
Did you ever wear leg warmers, flashdance shirt, members only jacket, lace socks with high heels?

None of the above (especially the last one). The closest I got to being fashionable in the 80s was graduating from cut offs to Ocean Pacific store bought swim trunks and a brief affinity for baggy pants. I would have been wearing Doc Martins but I was too far out in the boondocks to ever have any luck finding those. That's alright, being culturally deprived meant having to come up with your style of clothes.

Tim! That song is so funny! They play it on Radio Disney a lot and Victoria always gets the giggles when we hear it.

I loved the Back to the Future series, Star Wars and Indiana Jones series too.
I hung with alot of surfers. So some of the 80's looks were for when I went out at night. I was big into OP and Lightning Bolt. I loved my OP long sleeved t-shirts, they had a really great girls line. Most of the guys I hung with wore baggy surfers pants or those OP corduroy shorts. When I show my surfer sons them they die because they're so short and tight.
I remember saving all my money for a gold lightening bolt necklace that was super popular.
A popular thing back then was for the clubs we went to to have beach nights. You wore shorts and bathing suits, etc. There was a brief time when these shorts and pants called diaper shorts were popular. You tied them on, threaded them thru your legs then tied them again. They looked great on, but not a good choice if you were drinking a bit and needed to use the ladies room.

I had a pair of diaper shorts. Man, what a pain in the butt to wear but as a cute, 16 y/o cheerleader, they were GREAT!
I remember getting my hair trimmed and every place I went, the stylist said "Man, you have a lot of body to your hair! Are these curls natural??" Talk about BIG HAIR!!!

Who wore SKIDZ? The pants with the traffic sign on the back. They were quite fashioable back then, i think today they would compare to lounge pants. Not only were they already big and baggy, but then we pegged them too. We looked like clowns :o What were we thinking :o :-?

Gotta love the 80s
Guilty.

Another 80's guilty secret of mine...
Rocky Horror Picture Show. I used to be one of those dorks who went to this and brought a bag full of stuff like tp, rice, water pistols, newspaper.....
I knew the lines and could do the Time Warp.

But no more midnight showings every Fri. I saw Song Remains the Same at a midnight showing too. Also Endless Summer.
I showed my kids Rocky Horror and they just kind of were freaked out by it. I never really thought about the story line before. Brad later became the mayor in that sitcom with Michael J Fox and Janet of course in that hot baseball movie.

To get that hair...I used something called Hair Epoxy. My sister was over one night as we prepared to go out and she asked to borrow my HAIR CEMENT!!! Too True!
