Any thoughts from previous experience helpful....my kids have been to two Buffett shows with us (10 & 14 yrs old)...Charlotte last April and Raleigh the year before that.....but seeing as how we have visited all the Margaritaville restaurants except Vegas and Cancun, we thought we may take in the Vegas show in April....what is the climate like at a Buffett show in Vegas? I know we have had this discussion here before "Buffett show with kids," but just wondering if it being specifically Vegas makes any difference in the crowd that attends the show?

I am totally all-for bringing keets to see Buffett with one exception, Vegas. There isn't really a whole lot they can do there. They can't get into M'Ville after like 9 or so on Friday or Saturday and they can't hang out in the casinos...so if you want to enjoy any of the Vegas night life while you are there don't plan on doing either of those things.

They would definitely enjoy the show. It's a decent venue that is small so even the cheap seats are OK. But Vegas is Vegas and unless you plan on doing family things the whole time, they better enjoy staying in the hotel.

My sister lives in Vegas so when I went out there with my parents before I turned 21 (several times between age 14 and 17) I pretty much would just hang out in the hotel room, a bowling alley at the Gold Coast, or the arcade at whichever casino my parents were gambling in. There is a lot more to do in Vegas now that is family friendly than when I was your keets age so you might feel differently.

I went last October and I do remember one person had a keet about 16-17 yrs old and it did seem to work well for them, so who really knows. It's just probably something I wouldn't do. But, make the best decision for you!!

Oh yeah...one more thing...Vegas can be expensive...meals, tipping, etc. etc. etc. especially when your keets won't be earning comps from gambling...it will totally add up over time. A meal here. A snack there. JMO.

if you do decide to bring them along, don't get floor seats or they may not be able to see anything...my wife is short and that was her complaint about the floor...thankfully we were on a centerstage aisle, so she could dance out there and see fine...there is nothing wrong with the 'cheap' seats at these shows considering they are over a 1/3 of the price of the best seats...

I agree with BB. I can't imagine why parents would take their kids to Vegas. Yes, there are some "family entertainment" options, but just think about what you might have to explain.

It really shocked and almost bothered me when I would see parents dragging their kids down Las Vegas Blvd (not that I've ever been there ).

Vegas was created by adults, for adults. No amount of kiddie shows will make up for the almost nekkid women on billboards or the prostitution fliers that line the streets.

Sorry, that needed to be repeated. Last time I wasn't there, I probably spent about $300 in one weekend on tips alone. Then again, I wasn't paying for most meals or drinks.

I'm anxious to take my 'keet to a show......but it wouldn't be Vegas.
I'll just echo what BB said, just too many things you can't do with your 'keets to make it fun for either of you.
Vegas is the capital of all things hedonistic.....and not really a good environment for kids....no matter how many roller coasters they build!
I'm not a prude, but any means....but just really don't like my 'keet exposed to gambling, prostitution, etc, etc....it's too late for me, but she still has a chance!!

That's true.....just watching television she's exposed to plenty.....and she's already been exposed to plenty just at parties with friends
BUT Vegas is a little over the top in everything.....at least at other venues, you have choices....you can minimize time at the tailgate party and just do the show....notice I didn't say SKIP the tailgate party!

The show (in the lawn) can be traumatizing in itself (for kids and the un-initiated)!!!!

I too would keep your kids out of Vegas. We go there at least 4 times a year and we've thought (not very hard) about taking the kids but there truely is nothing for them to do. They may like hanging out at the pool for awhile but that will get old too. And like the previous posters said...Vegas is expensive!

I also certainly would not like my kids to be exposed to the p*** slappers on the street especially if my child was 14. Mine are a little younger but I wouldn't even consider taking them until they hit 21.

Thanks guys/gals --- we were thinking we may day trip to the canyon on Friday, lay by the pool on Saturday, see the show -- then head on home on Sunday....Maybe we'll try the Florida shows instead (Tampa maybe for Busch Gardens) and head for a warmer climate for a weekened (definitely will go the Charlotte anyway). I'm a Vegas resident and I guess I'll have a dissenting opinion here.....kids can have a blast in Vegas, but they have to have the parents with them who are going to allow this happen. If you want to gamble and just leave them in the room all day.....it probably will not be the greatestest experience for them. However, if you want to get out and enjoy things like going to Gameworks, riding the various rollercoasters around town, checking out the Fremont Street Experience, going up to the top of the Stratosphere, etc.......than they'll have as much fun here as at Disneyland. I know a lot of parents who do bring kids here all the time and they have a great time as a family. It all depends on the parents plan whether it's a viable option.....if you're willing to forgo much gambling and the Vegas nightlife (which doesn't start til 10pm anyways)....than I say go ahead and bring them.

take notes from national lampoons vegas vacation. the kids had a shitty time, until rusty became nick papageorgio and audrey became a striper.

but really i dont think the vegas strip is a place for a young kid. everywhere you turn around someone is handing you a hooker catalog or flyer with naked hookers on them. and these guys get mad if you dont take them.

they are great souvenirs.

I brought home a huge stack of cards but I always passed on the bulky catalogs.

You don't want to call any of them.....those agency girls are way too expensive....the "independents" put on a "better show" and ask for less of a "donation"........at least thats what friends of mine tell me!
