I love the CD! Bought it this morning at 7am...played it all day.

Kenny is a great EAST Tennessee boy...who loves the islands. Much like ALL OF US do. Why knock it?

He actually lives (part time) in the Caymans....actually I'm JEALOUS...I wanna live there too.

WE ALL KNOW DSILCARIBE IS DREAMING

I am interested in what others who have bought or heard this album think of the songs.

What is your favorite song on the album?
The last one, that way I know the long, painful nightmare called Kenny Chesney's new album is finally over.

What is the most Buffettesque song on the album, in your opinion?
None. I know Jimmy Buffett and Kenny Chesney is no Jimmy Buffett. May be the guy that sang that lame ass song about wanting to escape with a Pina Colada but he's certainly no Jimmy Buffett

Which song can you most relate to?
See question #1

Which song reminds you most of the "islands"?
That flushing noise at the end of the last track.

Is this your favorite Kenny Chesney CD yet?
Yeah, boy.
Thanks for validating my statement on being childish
Nah, that's humor. Being childish is when you try to control the direction a thread is taking by changing the subject line and trying to tell people what they can't post. Yeah, and Kenny Chesney STILL s ucks.
sort of like sh*tting your pants and throwing a hissy fit over someone posting an album released in 2001 that was re-released on DVD in 2004 for their precious "Favorite albums of 2004" thread. I'd say thats an example of "trying to control the direction . .. " and "trying to tell people what they can't post." I would have started ANOTHER Kenny thread for my little interesting survey, but i knew i'd catch hell for starting another one and theres already way too damn many KC threads as it is. by the way, you don't have to say "s ucks", "sucks" works just fine
Actually, I was the person who listed the 2001 album in the 2004 albums thread. Jah corrected me nicely and I didn't feel that he tried to control my post in any way.

Wrong thread, he's referring to Lucinda William's Car Wheels on a Gravel Road that he included in a thread he started. Your memory isn't serving you so well on the thread you're referring to either as I also asked you very politely, the only one I witnessed throwing a "hissy fit" was you. Funny, it still hasn't stopped.

I agree, but I am leaning to Key Lime Pie as my favorite. I need more time to answer the others. Back to the topic. 8)

What is your favorite song on the album?
Right now it's ta toss up between "Guitar & Tiki Bars" and "Somewhere in the Sun" and "French Kissing Life"

What is the most Buffettesque song on the album, in your opinion?
"Magic" certainly reminds me of that lounge singer style that Jimmy does every now and then.
"Old Blue Chair" reminds me of Kenny's "Jimmy Dreams"

Which song can you most relate to?
"Island Boy"

Which song reminds you most of the "islands"?
"Guitars & Tiki Bars"

Is this your favorite Kenny Chesney CD yet?

Some misc. thoughts on a very long thread...

Thank you Big Hat Carmen for listening to my XM special. :)

Kenny owns a "winter home" in the British Virgin Islands, but spends time on other islands on his boat. We asked him to play tour guide for us, and he mentioned St. Barts by name as a place he liked to go, but said most of the places he goes are funky out of the way places that no one has ever heard of.

He's in the islands a couple of months out of the year, and says he wouldn't have the career he has today if he didn't have that escape in his life.

All of the press releases on this project say he isn't planning to release a single on it, but y'all know the music biz... things change. They've generated a huge amount of press on it.

And finally -

I can think of half a zillion entertainers that would love to sell the 2 million records that that "flop" Chris Gaines did.

;)

J. <--- who can't pick a favorite song yet, but my 8 year old loves Key Lime Pie

DsilCaribe wrote:i have a theory that the only reason these people like the poster above me bash Chesney so much is that they are in denial that Jimmy Buffett is only a mortal, and he will one day be gone and someone else will take his place, which will likely be Chesney. Guess what, there ain't nothing you can do about that. JB is great but one day he will retire and we'll have to find other island music to listen to, and the most easily accessible and most original island music will be comming from Chesney, if he continues to pursue this island music thing.
Why does someone have to take Buffetts place? I don't think he can be replaced that easy. What famous act/artists has been replaced with someone else? I can't name one.

well there were a couple of different Darren Stevens on Bewitched

and then on Dukes of Hazzard Bo and Luke were replaced

and let's see Johnny Carson replaced what's his name and Johnny was replaced by Jay Leno

and Richard Dawson was replaced on Family Feud

I thought about Bewithed after I wrote that. Too funny.

Jay leno is no Johnny Carson.
