UP Close and Personal with Kenny Chesney

Post by a1aara »

Jan. 24, 2005: Fans can get up close and personal with Kenny Chesney during this year's tour. That's because Chesney instituted "the Sand Bars," special standing room only pits adjacent to the stage.
Aside from 30 "Sand Bar" passes for radio personnel and family, the rest of the in-his-face general admission tickets will be passed out to random fans on the day of each show.
"I figure they're on their feet anyway," said Chesney. "We might as well tuck'em almost up under our heels, and really bring'em into the show. I've been to rock shows where bands do it - and it just makes the performance that much more intense; and anyone who's ever seen one of our shows knows we thrive on just how intense that connection can be."
Chesney's "Be As You Are: Songs From An Old Blue Chair" drops Tuesday.
While Chesney's regular tour begins in Wisconsin in March, he is starting up his second tour of small venues near colleges.
The first Keg in the Closet date - Jan. 27 at Starr Hill in Charlottesville, Va. went clean in 25 minutes. "It would've been faster," said venue manager Bryan Allenby, "but our website was slowed down by all the people. Now the angry calls begin."
The University of Virginia is the first school on the tour with four more colleges to be announced over the next two week

Kinda reminds me of what JJW does with people/friends/family sitting on his stage or slightly off stage towards the wings during some of his performances

I'm thinking someone with a kick ass set up at the tailgate might have a good shot at these. (fourplay)

The rumor I've heard is it may be at the AAA   Let's hope not!!! And just to be safe I'd buy the tickets. I tried to get us upgrades last year and it didn't work.

My keet may come this year so I have to be a lot more respectable than last year

now that would be interesting. Maybe this year KC will come by. I remember last year I was at the homemade port-a-potty when his bus drove by and he had the back window opened and looked at your set up.

I wasn't planning on taking the boat but I think I changed my mind. With any luck SOASOAPT will be sporting Kenny's signature right below Jimmy's.

Hey I was out smoking and never realized you had replied   . I think it would be too cool for you to take your boat. My son saw the pics from last year and when I mentioned him going with me to the show he asked if that guy with the boat would be there. Now if Buffett would only play on a Sat so I could get him there too.....

Yeah I saw that a couple of days ago, the sand pit Idea I think sucks, because that means he's gonna play indoor shows where they can put the catwalk out into the crowd, check out the setup at the wisconsin shows arena page. Pine knob or nothing: no joe louis
