The contest has just lost it's entertainment and appeal to me. I have no problem with it, I just don't feel participating anymore.

I know almost nothing about boxing, but I know that is a huge name and it would definitely make the news (I judge by whether it would make the crawl on CNN). I say let them keep that choice.nycparrothead wrote:Dude.... Who? [quote="bravedave"]I never like to argue with the ref, but Max isn't a nobody.
Maximillian Adolph Otto Siegfried Schmeling (born September 28, 1905) is a German former boxer whose two Heavyweight championship fights with Joe Louis transcended boxing and became worldwide social events which will forever be linked to the rivalry between Americans and Germans before World War II.
Thanks for the support!

In another death pool I found online, their criteria was the person must get an AP (Associated Press) press release on their death.. I am working to find where on the net the AP Death notices are posted... If I can find it, then we don't have to worry about subjectivity. EVeryone can pick whomever they like and if that person dies and the AP doesn't issue a press release for it then tough luck. The contest continues....job41475 wrote:Max Scmelling is a big name or so I thought. Old but famous to anybody who follows sports. if he died, it would make the news. I'll change it if need be, but am suprised that some people don't know him. Let me know.
If anyone wants to help me find this and send me a link I will pay your dollar for Pine Box Derby 2!

Max Scmelling would make the AP press release. No doubt about it. He is someone who will be remembered more when he does go....nycparrothead wrote:In another death pool I found online, their criteria was the person must get an AP (Associated Press) press release on their death.. I just noticed on SS's site that there are more than a few who have not paid up yet. Dunno if this is in the rules, but if it's not then I move to include a clause stating that you cannot participate (and you forfeit your pick for future rounds) in a new round if your payment for the previous round has not been received by the "kickoff" time. What y'all think?

I think St. Somewhere has mentioned that that is a rule.. But in case he hasn't, yes... You must be paid up from PBD I in order to participate in PBD II...rednekkPH wrote:I just noticed on SS's site that there are more than a few who have not paid up yet. ADDENDUM TO CELEBRITY QUALIFICATION!!!!comemonday wrote:You don't have to pay my $1, but try this link:

We will now be accepting ALL entries!!!! However, if your entry dies he must have an AP release. To find the AP death notes use this link:http://www.legacy.com/Legacy.asp?Page=APStories
If your celeb doesn't get an AP death note, you DON'T WIN and cannot pick a new celeb!! Looking at the names on this site, I've never heard of most of them, so looks like you don't need to be very selective as far as star status is concerned!
You are responsible for tracking your own pick. St. Somewhere and I will attempt to check this site as often as possible, but we will not be held responsible if we miss someone. YOU must bring it to our attention if your celebrity dies!
And, as promised, comemonday's entry will be free.. Upon conclusion of PBD II, I will pay your $1 to the winner. Thanks!!
